Bite by Bite: Seven Guidelines to Break Free from Emotional Eating

This was a great introduction to Geneen’s vast and expansive body of work. I’ve struggled my whole life with what I now know to be emotional eating, and until discovering intuitive eating a few years ago, never could figure out how to get to the root of the issue.
Emotional eating recovery is the next step in my journey, and Geneen is a fabulous guide. The audiobook is wonderful, because she has such a calm and compassionate voice. She is definitely a believer in Buddhism and eastern spiritual practices, so if that’s something that bothers you, it might be hard to get beyond that language and approach. For me, however, even as a Catholic, I found it to be really effective and groundbreaking. She makes you aware of the ways emotional eating is a mindless, reactive way of dealing with pain, and gently and kindly helps you to untangle the layers of that. Highly recommend it as a jumping off point into learning more about emotional eating.
