The Reappearance of Rachel Price

I was TOTALLY invested in this book from start to finish. I needed time to stand still so that I could have time to get to the end and find out all the secrets.
I am a major Holly Jackson fan and have loved all of her books. I enjoyed this one as much as A good girls guide to murder and much more than Five survive. However, the main difference from all of her previous books is I don’t remember her other books being as funny as this one was.
The book starts off with the making of a documentary about the disappearance of Rachel Price, Bel’s mum. She has been missing for 16 years and in all that time there was no signs of her. She simply vanished without a trace. Bel was constantly being asked “what do you think happened to her? And of course, her answer was always “I don’t know.
Bel had been brought up by her father, Charlie, who she was very close with and allow was fairly normal until Rachel’s reappearance occurred. And Bel knew deep down it was her. However, over time Rachel kept messing up, getting her details wrong. Bel started to become curious and I was totally with Bel the whole way and very sceptical of Rachel’s reappearance into the world.
Holly very cleverly created this very uncomfortable atmosphere within the family and “There was something else hiding between the members of the Price family, something Rachel‘s return had disturbed. Beneath the landmines there were secrets too. Nothing was adding up. And as if things weren’t strange enough, another family member disappears
This is where the mystery really steps it up a notch.
I was genuinely so shocked by the end result. It was so clever and SO much changed and happened in the last 50-100 pages. And by the end of the book the family was completely upside down, each of them questioning each other and one of them questioning them so much: “You can choose your family. And I choose the. I’m sorry.
Who chooses who
This is a true rollercoaster of a ride.
Overall, I would highly recommend it if you’re into YA mystery. Holy developed the characters wonderfully within this stand-alone book. It was a true edge of your seat thriller.

Fabulous review Emma 👏💖. I own Good Girls Guide to Murder, so I think I'll start there.
