I am the type of person who in the middle of the night goes “I’m curious about the affects green tea has on Alzheimer’s, and then spends three hours deep diving studies on it. I feel Hill is the same type of person, but he felt the need to show for all that time spent by info dumping that knowledge gained into a book whether or not it needed to be there.

Parts of Wellness I really liked the scenes that focused on Jack’s and Elizabeth’s relationship and their relationship with their families but all the non-sequiturs and rabbit holes this goes down made it about 200-300 pages longer than it needs to be and hard to keep caring about the heart of the story.

Ellen My thoughts exactly. Some chapters were a 1, some a 5, some in between. I loved the unraveling chapter and was bored silly by the college chapters.

I wish it had stuck to the heart of the story. That was really good!

Elaine B Ha! Totally. I'm also a 3 AM rabbit hole diver and I wouldn't invite anyone on my dives and agree that I didn't want to go on his either and felt it detracted from the tenderness he hinted at but didn't quite get to. He was busy being clever when what we actually connect to are those sweet parts of being human, not our middle-of-the-night unchecked, anxious Googling activity.
