A beautifully written novel by Canadian author, Melanie Maure 🇨🇦 I will keep my eye out for more books by her!

Aelish and Isabel McGuire are twin sisters. During WW II in 1941 a bomb strikes their home in Belfast, Northern Ireland and kills their parents. They are orphaned and taken to a Catholic Orphanage to live. Isabel begins to rebel and finally escapes while Aelish stays and eventually becomes a Nun. After many years of being estranged Aelish is called to Newfoundland, Canada where Isabel now lives with her husband and two kids. Isabel is quite ill with tuberculosis and needs Aelish to help with her children. They soon reconcile but tragedy hits in Canada and they return to Northern Ireland where many secrets are revealed about their childhood and the orphanage.
This is a very sad and disturbing story. While it's filled with much heartache it's also filled with sisterly love, resilience, and hope 💚
