"Successful parasites don’t kill us; they become part of us, making us perform all the work to keep them alive and help them reproduce."
What an incredible novel!! It's harder and harder for me to find fiction that really draws me in and consumes me. This book gripped me from start to finish and I really wish I didn't have a virtual stack of library books waiting to be read because it's gonna be difficult to wait to read book two.
If you like techno-thrillers, this is a must read. It blends AI with gaming and shows how quickly technology can be used to take over everything in our modern society.
It asks the questions, does democracy stand a chance against AI and what happens if the right technology gets into the wrong hands?
Such a fun and thrilling story and one I can't wait to get back into with book two!
"I suspect that democracy is not viable in a technologically advanced society. Free people wield too much ability to destroy."

Thanks, Daniel, and yes, terrifying is right!

Thanks, Judith. It's wonderful when books do that, isn't it?

No doubt it is, Barbara, though it would make for a unique ending if it's not! I'm very curious how they're going to possibly stop the daemon though, it having infiltrated just about every computer in the world as well as recruited thousands of people to its cause.

A scary question to contemplate! Terrific review, Jenna!

A scary question to contemplate! Terrific review, Jenna!"
Thanks, Candi, and scary indeed! Civilization could be destroyed so easily if one had the "right" tools and the know-how to use them.

Hope it does and make sure they have book two as well or ask them to purchase it if not! I hope you'll love it too!

Yes, and vice versa. It's worth recommending it to your librarian to purchase unless it hasn't been published in the UK
