it was ok

I was really excited about this book, and I did enjoy it however I did some research and her credentials seem to be a little fuzzy. Her name change, whether she has a PsyD or PhD (like the book says), and ya know the little thing about her personality that allows masking and lying easily

I could not give more than 2 stars due to the questions the book left. Also, regardless of the accuracy of her education and history- she got away with A LOT due to PRIVILEGE- pretty privilege, white privilege, rich privilege, power privilege, female privilege even getting this book deal is due to privilege. What if some of these stories were being told by a creepy ugly man? Would we be eating it up?! Food for thought :)

dany "female privilege" LOL

Marianne K So no one is allowed to be pretty, white, rich, powerful or female and succeed? If they do, they couldn’t have done so by their merit? Ridiculous generalizations!

Jamie Marianne- I think you might have misunderstood my comment. She is absolutely allowed to be all of those things and be successful. My point is, if her stories are true, she was given a lot of leeway and avoided true consequences throughout her life which could be due to her privileges. She even admits this in some scenarios. Also, many of the most egregious stories would not be rewarded with a book deal if told by a figure that is stereotypical of an assumed “creep.

Ashley Oh my gosh! So all of these aspects of her make her privileged? You are so out of touch. If a creepy ugly man wrote the same book I would’ve picked it up with the same interest- a true person intrigued. By psychology wouldn’t be so judgmental like yourself. :) have a great day!

Shan Pomeroy While I disagree with the term "female privilege" and some aspects of your review might be written through a seemingly misogynistic lens, I've been scouring these reviews to see if anyone else picked up on the author's lack of awareness about her privilege (which she most certain has in spades) and how it's shaped her experience as a so-called sociopath. She is white, rich, hot, cis, straight, and offers zero reflection on how her race and social status have deterred the discrimination that so many other minorities would have faced had they been exhibiting the same behaviors.
