really liked it
bookshelves: southern, group-reads

This is a great southern work of fiction. I loved how the book is narrated by a host of narrators. I liked the surprises. I enjoyed being so mad about circumstances but then hopeful of others. Just an overall well-rounded book that I highly recommend.

Hillary Jordan
“But I must start at the beginning, if I can find it. Beginnings are elusive things. Just when you think you have hold of one, you look back and see another, earlier beginning, and an earlier one before that. Even if you start with "Chapter One: I Am Born, " you still have the problem of antecedents, of cause and effect.”
Hillary Jordan, Mudbound

Diane Barnes I loved this book, but didn't realize it was being filmed. I'll have to see it.

Laura I know, I want to try and see it.

Angela M I loved this too , Laura . Thanks for the heads up on the movie!

This one is also on my October to-read list, so I'm happy to see your four stars.

Laura C, it is a good read and think you would enjoy. It's been a while since reading it so I might need to see about a reread.

Sue I loved this book too. Could be an amazing film but also difficult. So much emotion.

Laura Sue I'm usually very leery of books I love being fabulous on the big screen. I'm definitely a bigger book lover than movie lover.

I totally agree. I think the imagination can usually do more than the camera will ever be able to equal. Sometimes, though, a film succeeds if it picks out just the right parts of a book. Mudbound has so much I can't imagine how it can be filmed!

Laura It's on Netflix
