Dan Brown is back with another thriller so moronic you can feel your IQ points flaking away like dandruff.
“Origin marks the fifth outing for Harvard professor Robert Langdon, the symbologist who uncovered stunning secrets and shocking conspiracies in “The Da Vinci Code and Brown’s other phenomenally best-selling novels. All the worn-out elements of those earlier books are dragged out once again for Brown to hyperventilate over like some grifter trying to fence fake antiques.
This time around, the requisite earth-shattering secret is a discovery made by Edmond Kirsch, a computer genius with a flair for dramatic presentations and infinite delays. Kirsch has called the world’s intelligentsia to the Guggenheim Museum in Bilbao, Spain, where he plans to reveal his findings to the world because. . . .

Just one question: why bother reading his books if you don't like them? One book, okay (to see if it's better than the first one). But why again and again?

This is the first Dan Brown novel I have reviewed for The Washington Post. I reviewed it because I thought our readers might like to know if it was worth their time.

Don't get me wrong, I have nothing against people who still love Brown's books (I have given up myself), I just wish they'd stop insulting those who disagree with them. Go enjoy your book instead and stop hating on one-star reviews, that would make everyone's life more enjoyable.

It's okay. I'm just happy people are reading and talking about books.

Thanks, Pelumi. There's seems to be some disagreement here about this review!

It's okay if people disagree, it doesn't change the fact that the book sucked. And the biggest lie in the book was the utopia he predicted when everyone knows we're heading towards a dystopia. But like your review said, Dan Brown is more worried about getting a movie deal and I don't even like the movies.

Thank you, Guniz!

“Robert, Ambra whispered, “just remember the wise words of Disney’s Princess Elsa.
Langdon turned. “I’m sorry?
Ambra smiled softly. “Let it go.
*End of chapter 35*
That part I find so nonsense.

I am with you Ron

Also, your ŷ review is basically CLICK BAIT for the review on the WaPo website. Uncool.

Elena I agree with you. I actually enjoyed Dan Brown's first book and even the second was entertaining. This one however is awful.

That's the problem, this book has almost zero entertainment value. The problem is it reads like written by a new author and their editor rather than by a famous author. It's like he has farmed out his writing to underlings. So it lacks character and any semblance of a plot. There's zero suspense and no reason to turn pages. I got the book as a birthday present and felt obligated to read it. I was unable to finish it, it's that bad.

Be a little nicer perhaps? 😉
