This was camp. Unhinged homoerotic ghost aside, the real horror was being gaslit by Anna's family the whole time, that dynamic alone would turn me into a serial killer. I was on the verge of ripping my hair out from frustration so mission accomplished!

The same feelings! I try not to read good reads reviews till I finish the book because I don鈥檛 want my opinion pre tainted. This book was a gift from my wife, I wouldn鈥檛 have personally chosen it but I鈥檓 so pleased I read it. I feel like people who disliked it disliked it because they couldn鈥檛 relate to a highly dysfunctional family. People who can relate I think see that the main horror aspect was Anna constantly being scapegoated and her reality being changed by her family.
