really liked it
bookshelves: urban-fantasy

I really liked this book. It was a bit slow at the beginning but once I got over that I was completely hooked. We are introduced into a new werewolf world with this series, one that has not been described in any other series I have read so far.

Our heroine is Elena. She was just a normal girl who made the mistake of falling in love with her teacher, a young hot and sexy blonde who had her crazy in love since they first met. I mean, what would you have done in Elena's place? I know if I was in her place just the same. But then things got terribly wrong once she got bitten by this wolf. She woke up and immediately realized things were wrong, very wrong. First she is alone with this guy (Jaime) who keeps telling her she has been bitten by Clay (the teacher) and that she is now a werewolf. She doesn't wanna believe this but the evidence is right there in her.
The cool thing about this book is that being a werewolf is not nice, it's the worst thing that could have happened to Elena. She just can't control it. Not any other women survived the change, she has been the only one so far and is suffering intolerable pain while being extremely confused trying to analyze things. She just knows she has to escape From this Jaime who keeps telling her that to stay with him and the pack is the best thing she can do so far. But will she listen to him? Or will she leran by the hard way Jaime was right?

I'm not gonna say anything else about the plot because I don't wanna spoil it, I just wanted to give you all a pick inside this great and different series. I loved to see Elena struggle to understand everything in this new world and Clay trying to make Elena understand this was the right thing for her. How will he make to get Elena's love back after what he did to her? Well you have to read it to know guys, lol. Enjoy!

Ally72 I agree with you about the beginning...there were parts that weren't as exciting as others. I really like Clay and Elena and am anxious to read more books in this series.

vale pao It really was like that, at some parts in the beginning I just had to stop reading because I got bored but the it had a 5 stars ending so I gave 4 to sum up. LOL
I'll be starting next book, stolen, tomorrow.

Danielle The Book Huntress The beginning does start slow. It shows how she craved this boring, monotonous life, and then there is the contrast to when she goes back to her family. I think Armstrong does that on purpose. But I agree with you both. Personally I can't imagine how she would want that boring, regular life over life with her family and Clay.

Ally72 Have you read Stolen yet Danielle? It is one of the books I want to get to soon. I am just afraid there won't be enough Clay in it if Elena is taken. I guess that is why I was holding off with starting it...It is kind of dumb...I know.

Danielle The Book Huntress I haven't read Stolen yet, either. I kind of had the same feeling. And Armstrong's stories are intense. I have had that one in the near tbr pile for years. LOL.

vale pao Girls I feel the same way. I need someone to tell me we will be seeing a lot of Clay in stolen, or I woun't start it soon..

And Alexis it is not dumb, I feel just like you. LOL

Ally72 Thanks...It is so nice to know the two of you feel the same way. I should probably go and read some reviews and find out if he is in it a lot. I just don't want to know too much about the story before I get to it.

Danielle The Book Huntress I think he's in Broken a lot. I don't want to spoil you, but you can look at the description for Broken. :)

Danielle The Book Huntress Okay, my ultimate source confirmed that they end up together, sooner rather than later.

Ally72 Good! I am in the mood to read a series where the hero and heroine end-up together early in the series. I am not in an "angsty" kind of mood for books right now.

vale pao I know that they end up tpgether... but do we see a lot of Clay in the 2nd book?

Danielle The Book Huntress I don't think so, Vale. B/c Elena is imprisioned with the other women for most of the second book, so I would think not.

Danielle The Book Huntress Ally, I'm not sure what mood I'm in. I'm reading Tempting Faith, and it's intense, beautiful, and funny, so it's meeting a lot of my reading needs right now. I am so mercurial when it comes to what I want to read. :)

Ally72 I know...it just depends upon moods. I think when I have a lot going on I tend to want to read books that aren't as intense. Kelley Armstrong's books are pretty detailed (and I think can be a little dark) and I guess that is another reason why I have been waiting a little bit. I am bummed that there won't be much Elena and Clay, but I understand that it wouldn't work for the storyline. I know I will like it once I get started.

Danielle The Book Huntress We might be surprised, but I think it's mainly about her trying to get free, and developing the women who are in the future books.

Kris H. Stolen does feature a lot of Elena, but Clay factors big in it as well. We also meet new characters who figure into the ongoing series. I liked Stolen almost as much as Broken.

Danielle The Book Huntress Cool! Thanks for the 411, Kris. That helps a lot. :)

vale pao So Stolen is better than bitten? Because I really enjoyed Bitten. And we see a lot of Clay?

Kris, what you tell me may wanna make me read it today or start it another day. LOL

Kris H. Okay...I don't think it's better than Bitten, but it is ALMOST as good. The only book in this series that I think is better than Bitten is Frostbitten--the latest in this series. I gave Bitten a 5 and Stolen a 4.

vale pao mmm, the I'll wait a bit ro read the rest of the books in the series. I'll go with something lughter first. Maybe a YA book.

Thanks Kris!

vale pao Thanks!!have you seen the graphic novel? It's AMAZING!

Yes, I did see it. I love how Jeremy is depicted in it.

I do love this series because the author puts a lot of little Canadianisms in her books. For example, she'll make a comment about how a character is standing in line, because Canadians are very civilized and stand in line without pushing.

vale pao I'm getting a bit obsessed with the series too, lol.

AH I saw that you resurrected the Kelley Armstrong book. I had deleted it because there wasn't any activity on it and then poof! you started all sorts of threads, so I joined in again.

I got obsessed with it two summers ago. I have to go through all of her short stories still.

vale pao LOL, glad to see you noticed! I'm still waiting for answers from the members though, lol. I just can't understand how a group with so many members isn't responding, but it will eventually, lol, I will be persistent.

I'm also helping with the Kenyon group!
