This fantastic novel based on the author's in-depth knowledge and expertise on medieval religious culture (Christianity) is simply enjoyable and horrible till the reader might wonder how such incredible episodes could be visualized and powerfully narrated by such the great scholar in his fileld. His immense and profound knowledge as a semiotics professsor should assure his academic credential but, one more thing as far as I know, Professor Umberto Eco is also one of the great readers and book collectors in the world with some 40,000 volumes in his private library. Just imagine and thus you can't help reading his writings with awe and respect. I sometime think it might be my greatest honor just to meet and know him in person once in my life.
Enjoy!
