I'm giving it two stars and I feel like even that's a generous rating. The story was silly, the characters were not believable and the parents were not likable. The author is clearly atheist and has to remind through the autistic boy's character every chance he can get. I wasn't exactly thrilled with the father's colorful language especially when he talked to his son and abusive as well. The mother cheating on the father with a neighbor who acted like a complete tool to the boy was also annoying. The ending was rushed and in just three pages the mother, father, and son are all getting along together. I have no idea how this book was highly acclaimed. I have also worked with autistic children and ones with Asberger's Syndrome. The author has no clue how they really behave.

"Not impressed with this book at all. Halfway through it and I think it's safe to say that this is another reason why Oprah's Book Club is definitely NOT one to follow."

"Not impressed with this book at all. It's just more proof that Oprah Winfrey has awful taste when it comes to books."
