I’m calling this at 42% 💀
I don’t even have words for how boring this is? I have not one iota of fucks to give about this book or its plot or any of the characters. Almost half way in and basically not a thing has happened?! Please.
It needs a serious edit. Everything is so needlessly long winded and everything is repeated all the time.
This is also set in a different universe and for what? It’s a college mafia romance about a mafia heir and a musical prodigy who is, essentially, a violinist. Aside from this particular violin-adjacent instrument making colours as well as sounds, and Kal having “shadow powers�, there’s no discernible reason this needed to be set anywhere other than earth. I just felt like it was added to be interesting but wasn’t??
Kal also is just as bland as a soggy piece of bread. The trigger warnings in this book include “and if you meet a person like Kal, run� and I’m just laughing cause for a villain he’s so boring 😂 what’s even worse is that his dirty talk is also so forced and boring!!! Ugh
I did, however, love that the other main characters was named Rabbit. Something about that worked for me, so, cute.
Maybe it gets better in the second half idk but I’m never gonna find out

This series is called „the devils of vitality� and that just seems so funny to me as well� idk why.

I’ve only read one CLF book but it gave me a similar vibe. I know a lot of people love her books but I suspect they just aren’t for me.
I tried to read third book in this series (don’t ask me why, I have no idea). And. Same. Got bored, DNF’d

@Evie agree! I think she’s just not for me! Lots of reviews say they love the writing style but I just skimmed so much cause I was like GET ON WITH IT. Kind of reminds me of Mariana Zapata’s meandering inner dialogue (which I also loathe)
