really liked it

(A-) 82% | Very Good
Notes: An entirely different mood, pace and atmosphere than its predecessor, it thrives off the strength of a single character.

82% is an A- in Canada, kid. Take it from from a guy who's done a lot of college here.

A little free advice, Logan: when someone corrects you on a misstatement, just be gracious about it. People won't think any less of you. Don't respond by insulting people and calling them names. It doesn't save face or make you look any smarter.

♡ Dakota ♡ (Sarcasm is my middle name) I want to read this series so badly. And maybe this isn’t the best time to ask lol but how does a Canadian Grading scale work? In American it’s 90-100% A and 10 points for each letter grade till 60% and below being an F. Is it 100-80 for an a and then the same thing as American grading scales but with 20 instead of 10. I always wanted to ask but I didn’t want to sound rude. I’m just curious :)

I'm glad to hear you're excited about this series, Dakota! I enjoyed it a lot, and hope you do too!

No problem about the question, I'm happy to answer it. In short, there's no one standard across the board, each institution and jurisdiction uses their own system, so there's always going to be exceptions. Some universities don't use pluses and minuses, for example. Also, there's a notable difference between high school and university, where an 85% could be a B in high school but an A in university. What I say is going to be fairly general and limited to current practices, I can’t speak to how things were done decades ago.

With university grading (with a few exceptions), there's an interval of 10 starting with D at 50% to A at 80% (a few places start with E at 40). Percentages for pluses and minuses within those grades differ depending on the institution: a B+ could start between 75-77%, for instance. Though, it's pretty standard that 90%<=A+, 85-89%=A, and 80-84%=A-. Also a failing grade is almost always >50%=F. I hope that answers your question. If you're curious about anything else let me know :)

Happy to have cleared that up for you, Dakota :)

Shruti - Bookbabe_4life Well that logan kid seems just that , a kid. Don't mind him. But wow jayson..that's probably like the best thing I've ever heard you say. Thanks a lot, Shruti. That's really nice of you to say. I definitely appreciate it, and I'm glad you found it beneficial and constructive. Hope you have a great day too :)

_sniper.force_ I wish America had Canadian grading system. You could go home and say "I got an A- on my test!" In reality you got an 80% (which is a B-).

Jayson Yoongi wrote: "I wish America had Canadian grading system. You could go home and say "I got an A- on my test!" In reality you got an 80% (which is a B-)."

Well, that's certainly a silver lining to going Canadian. Though there is a difference between university and high school grading. In high school an 80% would still be a B most places in Canada.

meital Glad you like it! It's a great Trilogy. I intentionally write "Trilogy" since I didn't continue to the further books, written by another write. I liked the way things ended. Don't like it when they overstretch books

Thanks, meital! I agree with you, I also consider this series a trilogy. The books that follow I'd say are at best a non-canonical alternate timeline, and at worst officially licensed fanfiction.

Makrand Ah yes, this answers the question I posted on your first book review! So this one seems better than one eh?

I like the first book best of all.

Rebecca You know, I might re-read these. I liked them, but I was recovering from a botched spinal tap/resulting static migraine at the time. They made for a great distraction, but I think I missed a lot.

Yeah, I can see that. I've certainly read books without giving them my full attention, and probably missed out on certain things. Plus, rereads always have the benefit of knowing the full story for picking out foreshadowing and the like :)

Great to know! I've actually not seen any of the movies, so might have to add that to my to-do list :)

Whitney Lmao, those old comments were full of fun drama ^.^ gave me a laugh. I love how you're not afraid to call them out; that's the second time I've seen it. Awesome review, btw :)

Happy you got a kick out of it, Whitney! I don't get too many hostile comments, but I always try to deal with them head-on. Most often, they're kids, and so not much of a hassle. The difficulty is when grown adults get belligerent, those take some fortitude to deal with, if I choose to engage much at all :)

Well, you definitely deal with it well. Grown adults throw the worst tantrums. I don’t do well with conflict; usually just block and run. It must get interesting with such a big friends list and following.

Yeah, whenever I get a notification that someone's commented on one of my older reviews, there's always a bit of dread because it's a 50/50 chance the comment's negative and contentious. I'd like to think I deal with them well enough. I've certainly had enough practice 😅

Whitney Jayson wrote: Yeah, whenever I get a notification that someone's commented on one of my older reviews, there's alwa..."

Haha, yeah, I totally understand the dread. We’ve been conditioned by all the negative experiences. Thankfully, not everyone is like that. But it’s the price of putting oneself out there. I’m trying to get better at it.

As in most things, practice makes perfect :)

No, not in Canada. In Canada 82% is a university A- or a high school B. Not everywhere in the world grades American. In fact, very few places do :)
