Six roses. Six vials of blood.
Six visits to a vampire who could be her salvation…or her damnation.

Six Scorched Roses by Carissa Broadbent is a dark fantasy romance novella that explores a world ruled by dangerous vampires and where humans make uneasy alliances with these supernatural beings. The story centers around a healer named Lilith, who strikes a risky deal with Vale, a lethal vampire, to save her village from a deadly disease. Their relationship, though starting out as a transaction, develops into something more complex and intense.

Broadbent’s writing is characterized by intense emotions, and a blend of dark fantasy with romance. The novella delves into themes of sacrifice, survival, and the morally grey areas that arise when humans and vampires collide.

The novella’s strengths lie in its rich world building and the slow burn tension between its leads. Broadbent paints a vivid picture of a bleak, plague ridden landscape and the constant peril of living in a world ruled by vampires. The stakes feel personal and real, and the pacing of Lilith and Vale’s evolving relationship kept me hooked.

Not my usual genre, but I thoroughly enjoyed my time with this one. If you’re a fan of dark, gritty fantasy with strong romantic elements and complex characters, then Six Scorched Roses might be worth checking out.

It is also worth noting that this standalone novella is set in the world of the ‘Crowns of Nyaxia series by the same author.

I Highly Recommend.

Thank you Esta! I just ordered the first two books yesterday! 🙊😄💖

Chris Lee (away) This sounds exciting! Vampires are always portrayed as gloomy and ominous. Glad to know there are fun ones out in book world. Haha. Well, I'm just assuming from the review. 😅 Perfect read for the season. Glad it was a great one, Rebecca!

I'm exactly the same. This is actually a little standalone, but set in the same world as a popular series. Which, I just ordered for my self yesterday! haha. 😄💖
