Destroy Me (Shatter Me, #1.5)

This novella unfolds during the climax of Shatter Me and is seen through Warner’s eyes.
I’ll keep this review short since it’s only a novella, but it really dives into Warner’s perspective in a way that’s both eye-opening and emotional. We find out he’s not just the cold, distant guy we assumed he was; underneath that tough exterior, he’s actually someone who’s really struggling and trying to figure things out. There’s a lot more going on beneath the surface than we initially realised. This novella shows his vulnerable side, making it clear how much he wants to be with Juliette and how desperately he craves her love. It really dives into his feelings for her and his need for that connection.
From the very first moment Warner shows up in the first book, I found him to be such an intriguing character. He’s incredibly complex and secretive, which makes sense given his position and the pressure he’s under. There’s so much more to him than the slightly unhinged persona we get in that initial glimpse. Reading about his inner thoughts and feelings really adds layers to his character, especially when we realise how Juliette’s words and actions have impacted him so much.
After finishing this novella, I definitely feel a bit softer towards him. His relationship with Delalieu was a nice touch, providing some depth and showing another side of him. On the other hand, I cannot stand his father.
As for the writing itself, I’d say it’s improved since the first book, but not enough to really wow me or anything.
I’m really eager to see how Warner’s character develops in the upcoming books. I think there’s a lot more to uncover, and I can’t wait to see where his journey takes him.

Warner’s pov? 👀 Maybe this book will make me like him
“This girl is destroying me. A girl who has spent the last year in an insane asylum. A girl who would try to shoot me dead for kissing her. A girl who ran off with another man just to get away from me. Of course this is the girl I would fall for.
