die with a smile by Bruno Mars & Lady Gaga
I think the universe is against me writing this silly review bc I've been thinking and 'writing' for almost 3 hours? I mean, wasn't actually writing since I got into a fight with a roach but oh well😔 (almost lost it, but got my revenge after 1 hour and half).
But that's enough of this story.
This was the first book by Ashley Poston I've ever picked up and I'm not disappointed, at all!😋 her writing wasn't bad and the characters were nice: the fmc, Florence, was very relatable🥹 and our love interest, Benji, is a cutie patootie.
The book follows Florence Day, a ghostwriter for a renowned romance author, as she navigates a difficult return to her hometown followed by her surprisingly dead (and handsome🫦) editor, who only she can see.
The plot was good, most of the time and the little plot twists here and there, absolute chef kiss!! But some chapters weren't interesting, like I couldn't care less about them😭and this created an alternation between parts that I couldn't wait to read and parts that I didn't care to read. The chapters are short, which is an appreciated trait in a book, but I wished there were a bit longer to focus more on Benji's background and some aspects of the book. This was surprising, since I would never say to make the chapters longer (hardcore short chapters fan🫱🏼🫲) but that's how much I was invested.
Overall I would recommend this: there are some deep themes, such as grief and regret, and if you're okay with that and think that the plot is intriguing, you should give it a go. It's a bit different from the usual romance novels but it's worth giving a try🫶🏼

I'm so excited to read this🤭have no idea of what's going on with the plot but I'm in for surprises
Because if there was one thing more powerful than death itself, it was true, undeniable love.

I wasn’t good at other people’s emotions because I didn’t know how to help, usually.
When someone was in pain, I wanted to fix it.
But I couldn’t.

“Me, too".
