The President's Lawyer by Lawrence S. Robbins
Narrated by Jason Culp
I felt like I knew where this was going almost from the beginning of the story but it was interesting to see how it'd all play out. I listened to the audiobook and I wonder if the narration helped me see what was going on better than I would have if I read the book. This is a book full of bad characters with just about everyone being dishonest in one way or another. But then this is politics so what could I expect?
The first half of the book sets up the fact that a young lawyer has been murdered and the former President of the United States is accused of murdering her. There is a LOT of evidence pointing toward the former president who would rather lie than tell a truth. The President wants his childhood best friend to defend him and Rob Jacobson reluctantly agrees to do so despite a dump truck load of conflicts and reasons not to do so.
During the second half of the book we spend time in the courtroom. Throughout the book there are scenes with someone speaking with a therapist...the therapist gets an earful, that's for sure. Skeletons will be coming out of a lot of closets and the narrator Jason Culp does a good job with handling all the characters he narrates. This is a tricky book in more ways than one, where too many people are playing with fire, getting away with it, and pushing others into the flames.

Thank you, Tina, all kinds of sleazy, too 😏

It's far from my favorite subject matter and I do think that the audiobook helped me to enjoy it more than if I read it. It helps if I can like characters and this bunch wasn't very likeable 🤨 Thank you, Tara!

Thank you, Lisa, I don't think it gave it away for me necessarily, the voice acting did what it was supposed to do to make this story work. It's just that the narrator had the right demeanor for each character, I really liked the narration. 🩵

Thank you, Mary Beth! 💜

Thank you, Amina, I like being able to figure things out, it can still be fun to watch how things play out. 🩵

I catch a scent (whiff) and I won't let go 😂 Thank you, Jonetta!

Thank you, Julie! 💜

Thank you, Debbie, you know what I'm talking about 🤗

Thank you, Kat, barely a decent person in the bunch 🤣

Thank you, Izzie!

Thank you, Julie, I had my suspicions 😏

Perfect! I love that description you offer, Marilyn. Wonderful review. 🙂
