Lt. Herrera People complain about A.I., but at least A.I. could actually learn to not write "taut", "blistering", "gritty", "darkly comic', &c., in its blurbs. Blurb-writers will never get it. Never.

Liam I must admit, Herrera. I do give a book a closer look if they say Gritty. The rest I just ignore.
. But rarely now do I read the blurb. I've not bought many books recently. I stockpiled over the years and just go in blind now when picking one to read. I mean, I must've bought them for a reason, right?

I buy them even if they do say "taut" &c. But I only read the blurb up to the "more" part. There'd be nothing to read if I took blurbs seriously. But I am still curious who these blurb-writers are. You'd think there'd be more money in writing News or Journalism where their wretched nonsense is prized -- and they might even get on TV then.

I just noticed, this particular "taut" was from a real Newsman, so that answers this particular "who?" Most don't cite the source. I assume they're employees of the publisher. I'd sure hate to be a writer and have to satisfy employees like that before I could get a book approved. I guess what is truly remarkable is that any good books ever get published at all.

Paul Best Given's book. The others? Not so much, imo.

Liam This was my 2nd Leonard crime book, 1st Givens. I really enjoyed it. Maybe I'll try a few other crime ones before going back to the Givens series and see what I make of the 2nd one.

Paul Can't go wrong with EL usually.
