PASSION! TWISTS! BETRAYAL! TENSION! DRAMA!
This book has left me more conflicted than ever! Part of me wants to give it five stars for evoking such strong emotions, while another part leans toward three stars because, despite my overwhelming frustration with certain events, there were still aspects I genuinely enjoyed. But then the last 20% happened—MY LAST STRAW! One star feels harsh because I do have positive things to say, but ultimately, I can’t ignore how this book made me feel.
Let’s start with the good, shall I? The first half of this book was incredible! I absolutely adore documentary-style storytelling, and this one had me hooked. I couldn’t put it down! I was completely immersed in the passion and love that Heath and Rocha had for each other and their sport. As the story unfolded, it became clear that this wasn’t meant to be a book about perfect characters—AND THAT'S OKAY! I love flawed characters because they make stories feel real, messy, and relatable. This book really made me reflect on how passion can turn toxic—how the drive to “do anything to win can be both inspiring and dangerous. But wow even I have my limits when it comes to how much chaos and drama I can handle.
I can’t dive into what I hated without spoiling everything, but let’s just say Kat wasn’t perfect, yet she deserved so much better. Reading about the toxic behaviors and repetitive actions of all the characters (including Kat) was infuriating. It felt like certain things were brushed off as no big deal, and that just didn’t sit right with me. This book had so much potential, and it’s truly disappointing how it all played out in the end.
To be clear, I’m not always looking for a perfect story with perfect characters and a perfect ending. Life is messy, and I appreciate when books reflect that!

I mean a lot of people like it...maybe give it a chance💖

Glad I could help🥲

Oh man🤣 I promise it's actually not that bad. The second half immeasurably pissed me off, and I gave it 1 star out of spite 🥲.
