This Elemental series of novellas by John Boyne are so disheartening and disturbing, but his writing and story-telling are impeccable, as always. Impossible to put down, with memorable characters and harrowing but deeply human dilemmas that will stay with you.
The books are all lightly tied together, so I recommend reading them in order if you can. Water, Earth, Fire, Water (coming out spring 2025).

Boyne has one coming out in September titled, "Elements" so not sure what that will be - maybe one that includes them all?! I do love Boyne but my library hasn't gotten these in. Glad you loved it, Dianne!

Yes, Elements will have all the novellas together in one book. I ordered them from Blackwell’s in the UK as separate books. The last one, Air, comes out in the beginning of May. I couldn’t wait!
I have read the first two. I agree with both the disheartening and impeccable. Not sure I'll be able to wait until May.
