it was amazing

My favorite of Stegner’s, rich with story and intricate prose. It really is quality writing and often enthralling.

The wolf willow has this amazing scent when it’s beginning to open and mature in the spring. Quite exhilarating. I’ve often wished it could be captured in a cologne I could splash on after shaving every morning.

Debbie W. Hmm! Wolf willow cologne?!? Sounds interesting!
I've read a few of Stegner's novels and have this one on my WTR list. Hope to get to it sometime this year.
Great review, Murray.

Murray Thanks Debbie .. yes I like his way with prose.

Kushagri Great review, Murray. Wallace Stegner is an author I have wanted to read for some time now. I have had Angle of Repose on my list, but Wolf Willow too sounds exactly like a book I’d love to read. So may start with Stegner with this! Thanks!

Murray Hey Kushagri ty very much. He is a thoughtful prosaic writer. Born in Canada and then off to the US 🙂

Lorna A beautiful review, Murray. Stegner is one of my favorite writers. I’m just starting this book and am taken with your high praise as your favorite!

Murray Thanks Lorna. I love Wolf Willow. And another - Where the Bluebird Sings at the Lemonade Springs. He was born in SK and eventually made his way to Stanford. Tried to get Wendell Berry to join but Wendell preferred to stick close to nature and his roots.
