it was amazing
bookshelves: horror

“As far back as he could remember, it seemed that his father had fought the Devil all the time.

What!! I. Was. Not. Prepared. This “hillbilly gothic noir as described by Pollock had me in quite a chokehold. Hot damn! Dark. Sinister. Bleak. Devil All the Time leaves a heavy residue on your mood and mind.

“Unless he had whiskey running through his veins, Willard came to the clearing every morning and evening to talk to God. Arvin didn't know which was worse, the drinking or the praying.

“I’ve always viewed the world as a sad and often tragic place, and that tends to come out in my work. -Donald Ray Pollock

The Belladonna @Debra - Thank you so much! I am very interested to see your thoughts on King Sorrow, I'm looking forward to the book release in October! 🎃

The Belladonna @Terrie - Thank you kindly! And may I say you have terrific bookshelves on your page. I'm a sucker for a well organized ŷ page. lol 😍 I like to explore my GR friends' shelves of books, like a treasure hunt, finding lil pots of gold for myself. The experience is so much better with a well-labeled library!
