*Sigh*

Yep, that’s three stars. Nope, not a mistake. Yep, I rated the previous two books 4 and 5 stars. I love them both and was SO anticipating this third book because Hallie had finally broken free from her horrific family, she had promising opportunities, a good working relationship with the hochlan investigators (well, the ones that matter) with the prospect of a romance brewing with Girard. Sadly that fantastic set-up dwindles to nowheresville. Seriously. While her family are not involved at all in this story, all the other aspects are there and ready. But absolutely nothing happens. No growth whatsoever - just a so-so side trip kinda mystery. There is really nothing that furthers or deepens the story, the relationships, the understanding, the progress at all! *double sigh*

Aw well, can’t win ‘em all.

Katyana Yeah, I'm with you. This one was a big meh.

message 2: by TJ (new) - rated it 3 stars

TJ Whew! At least I’m not the only one. I was actually surprised at how “meh it was after all the angst and excitement of the first two books.

Katyana Yeah, I'm pretty lukewarm about this series now.
