did not like it
bookshelves: fiction

My mom bought this book, some years ago, when everyone was crazy about it and clamming how great it was. So, obviously, I couldn't contain my curiosity and I started to read it some time after this was at my home and I couldn't get through the first 100 pages.

I didn't remember quite well why I didn't like it and so I started a second time in these last days. I wish I didn't

I’m not a truly religious person; I’m still finding myself in that aspect and because of that, I like to read books that push me into different perspectives. I like books that enable me to question and to see things from different point of views in order for me to grow in this aspect.

This book, I don’t know, it seemed more heretic than any other book I had read criticizing religion, and in a bad way. And I couldn't really learn anything with it! It was cheesy from the beginning until the end! The author built characters that for me are hard to believe, they seem like the perfect parents, the perfect human beings. Mack lost their child, but Nan is just cool with it in my perspective The only pain I could really see in all of this drama, that was somewhat right for it, was from Kate, the other daughter. And even her we just ‘hear about it.

It’s really poor constructed; and the God/Jesus/Holy Spirit and whatsoever, the only feeling they gave me during the whole book was: ‘BUT WHAT THE ---- IS THIS????!! There are a lot of wrong things around them, the way the author built God, well it’s not the aspect in itself (everyone has a specific image in their heads of how God must be, in the end what matters is what we believe in). It seemed that the author tried to build the most controversial God character with stereotypes that would shock everyone. And that shouldn't even matter! Mr. Young, I saw what you did there and I didn't like it.

So NO! Don’t read this book, you will not learn anything, it was a big waste of time. Oh, and I saw some time ago a second book of this author, with a huge publicity in a library, but my only thought now is: ‘hey, I don’t think people will fall for that a second time
