Breath of Snow and Ashes - Ex
Gabaldon, Diana - 6th in series
The year is 1772, and on the eve of the American Revolution, the long fuse of rebellion has already been lit. Men lie dead in the streets of Boston, and in the backwoods of North Carolina, isolated cabins burn in the forest.

With chaos brewing, the governor calls upon Jamie Fraser to unite the backcountry and safeguard the colony for King and Crown. But from his wife Jamie knows that three years hence the shot heard round the world will be fired, and the result will be independence with those loyal to the King either dead or in exile. And there is also the matter of a tiny clipping from The Wilmington Gazette, dated 1776, which reports Jamie’s death, along with his kin. For once, he hopes, his time-traveling family may be wrong about the future.

The only thing I can say is "FANTASTIC." Happily, Gabaldon is saying there will be two more books to the series. This is one I wouldn't mind seeing go on, and on, and on.....

Cathie I hardily agree with the 5-star rating on this book. Diana is back on her story and the book is as good as Outlander, Drums of Autumn. I heard Diana say that her publisher wanted 2 more books after this one. It may take another two or three years before we see another book, but I feel it will be worth it based on the writing in this novel.

LJ The biggest thing I learned in listening to this series, and particularly the last two books, is that it is hard to cry and drive at the same time. NOT a good idea.

Ann This book was soooo good!!! I just finished reading it and could not believe all the twists and turns Diana took the readers on! My heart was racing and now I have to sit and wait over a year for the next book!! I just don't know how I will do that after reading such a fantastic book. After reading Fiery Cross, I was worried, but Diana was back!!
