Fallen was as interesting and entertaining a read as I remembered it and wanted it to continue to be. My heart is happy. I first read Fallen 14 years ago. The series has always stuck with me. I wanted to reread it to see if my daughter will be ready for it (so crazy to think about!). She is 11 years old and I would say she is almost ready. There is kissing, nothing spicier. It’s a game of the fallen angels fighting for Luce’s soul as her status has changed for this current life she is in. Will it be her last or will she be reincarnated as she always has. Can Daniel and Luce finally love forever and not end with Luce dying and coming back in 17 years? I love Daniel and Cam. It’s a well written love/hate relationship. Perfect for the heaven and hell storyline. I appreciate so much that, while the characters are older high school age, there is no real angst and whining that takes you out of the story like we get with many of todays YA fantasy books. It’s a quick read if you want to try a paranormal or fantasy series that’s just a little different. I would definitely recommend if you are a P.C. Cast, Becca Fitzpatrick, Cassandra Clare, Richelle Mead or Beautiful Creatures fan.

Meredith Holley Angels are the new vampires. But my friend April, who knows her teen romance, said this is really good and that I HAVE TO read it.

Annie LOL! I don't think you can ever replace Vampires, just like black will always be classic. I do love that zombies might not make as big a comeback as I was thinking though, I'd much rather have depraved, fallen, snarky, hot angels than a zombie that can't talk, barely moves faster than a snail and is falling apart. :O) I'm on the fence with the shape shifters. LOL!

Annie I also think the cover art for some YA books helps you know if it leans towards an adult audience as well. This one definitly looks like it is YA/Adult just based on the cover. I really liked the twilight cover art as well and we've seen that one as a multi-generational series...

Meredith Holley Yeah, this one's pretty. I have to judge a book by it's cover, even though I should have learned my lesson by now. I think this one is like 90% less likely to get a straight male reader than Twilight because of its cover art, though.

Have you read the Hunger Games, yet?!

Annie No, I just added it to my to-read shelf so my next b&n run I can look for it (after christmas and hopefully with a shiney new gift card...) you recommend it?

message 6: by Meredith (new)

Meredith Holley Yes yes yes! I also think it has some really great themes (not in an annoying, teachery way, but in a natural way) that you would want teens to be reading about and thinking about. I mean, not that giving up your family to marry an undead stalker isn't a positive message . . . but it's nice to have some good adventure and a kickass girl together in one book.

Annie I LOVE LOVE your assessment of Twilight... Too bad that wasn't on the jacket cover...

Meredith Holley I still love it, but you can't really get around that part of it. Same with the Little Mermaid, except substitute, "two-legged moron."

Annie I suppose they would say infatuation...Hmmm so if Little Mermaid is stalker- Beauty and the Beast would be Stockholm Syndrome?

message 10: by Meredith (new)

Meredith Holley EXACTLY! But Ariel's really more of the stalker in Little Mermaid. I was replacing the whole phrase "undead stalker."

Annie Although, I don't know anything about merpeople, so since they are mythical and therefore supernatural in their existance, it's possible Ariel WAS/IS an undead stalker. LOL!
