really liked it

I think I personally enjoyed book 1 and 2 the most, but this one was incredibly powerful. Told in the perspective of Kristina's children almost 20 years later, Fallout shows us not only the long term effects of addiction, but also how wide the effects go. How many people and generation it touches. How many lives it marks. These kids all have deep rooted psychological issues caused by the simple fact of being born by an addict, but also by being abandoned, feeling unloved and alone. It was interesting to see how different these kids all turned out as well. My favorite perspective was Hunter's. I found his narrative to be the most compelling. This may simply be because his story most closely relates to the other books. We knew him as a baby, as well as the specifics surrounding his family situation from birth. It's like I felt more attached to him because of that.

Also in this edition we get to hear from the real "Kristina". She writes of her addiction and how/why she went down that road. If you decide to buy this series make sure to get these editions. Each book has a special section that make the story all the more emotional just by reading of these real-life stories. The other 2 gave us bits of Ellen's very own journey from which the series is based on.

Mimi I keep seeing Ellen Hopkins around and wanting to read her books then forgetting all about it... but I'm putting my foot down now! You reminded me that I need to get on this bandwagon ASAP. Awesome possum coolio review, Giselle! :) <3

Giselle Hope you try it out, Mimi! They go super fast too because of the verse prose. It has close to 700 pages and you get through it in a few hours it's awesome!

J.M. Welker Your review intrigues me. Among my great grandparents there was an alcoholic. All the way down through the generations, that grandparent has affected the family. I believe that even though I do not know the grandparent that individual has left an imprint all the way down to my generation. All in my family either do not drink or if they do it is a cocktail. I am not saying that is the only impression left. Just an interesting detail.
I may try this book even though it is not my usual genre.

Giselle You should give it a try, Julia. I bet you could somewhat relate to the overall story and message. Start with book 1 - Crank!

Lulu Marie I completely agree with you Giselle. I cried when Hunter fell under and I felt like I should do something. Even though it's just a book it's so powerful and true. I can relate to it I have had family members fall under the influence of drugs and it hurt them extremely. I love how Ellen made these stories come to life. I want to read more of her work.
