Entirely too long. I just don't have any more hours of my life to devote to this book. (I promise I read more than half.)

Do you like books where the bad guys are super evil and the good guys are super good and say all the right things and do all the right things all the time? Do you like books where the dialogue doesn't quite sound the way people really talk? Do you like m/m books that give you glimpses into the sexist m/f relationship from a previous book in the series? Do you like cowboy/ranch themed books with a ridiculous paranormal twist?

I do not. This was given high ratings by several of my goodreads friends, people whose opinion I really trust and usually agree with, so I'm not quite sure what happened here. And I mean, it wasn't wretched. It just didn't strike me as having the depth or dimension that I'm looking for in a book.

And I would like to state for the record that Montana is not just one big ranch.

Huahahahaha! I love stereotypes, don't you? Duly noted, Nichole. ;)

Nichole (DirrtyH) Oh yeah, I totally love stereotypes. What's with those women drivers, right?

Unapologetic_Bookaholic It was the ending that was the best part ;). Sorry you couldn't make it through, but you at least gave it a shot. Great review, Nichole.

Jimmy Hanson Meh ... that's what I was afraid of. =/

"Demon Moon" [with the m/f coupling:] was absolutely horrible IMHO, soooo not like a few of Cameron Dane's other novels. I've heard ReneCade is very good - it's recommended a LOT - but because of the 1st in the Hawkin's Brothers novels I've been hesitant to even pick it up ...

Nichole (DirrtyH) I gave myself a list of 100 m/m books I had to read before I'm allowed to buy anymore because I had gone a little overboard. I picked 4 Cameron Dane books for the list, 3 of them from the Hawkins series. I'm going to give her one more try - I'll read the one that's not from the Hawkins series and if I like it I'll try the other two (ReneCade and Knowing Caleb). If not, I'm going to have to switch them out.

Jimmy Hanson Which one is NOT from the Hawkins series?
I've read most of the others I could find - "Dreaming in Color," "Finding Home" [and the other two in that series - "The Ultimate Kink" and "Saying I Do":], "Grey's Awakening" and "A Fostered Love."

Kind of telling, that I've read just about all of Dane's other stuff, EXCEPT the Hawkins series ... lol. ^-^;;

Grey's Awakening. Is it good? I sure hope so...

Jimmy Hanson I thought so, though I read it some time ago. Still, I went back and read it twice. There were times when I just wanted to shove my fist in Grey's face. Sirus is a great, but granted pretty stubborn guy, and I guess Grey is too when it comes down to it, but the way Grey is, he makes the relationship violent [in terms of love-making:], and is way too ready to try and beat the crap out of Sirus. I could understand given Grey's history, but only so much. A lot of his aggression kind of seemed unfounded in the end. =/

Despite that, I really liked it. The emotions ran deep and it wasn't nearly as shallow as "Demon Moon" was. It's very ... intense is the right word.

Of course, my favorite of Dane's is "A Fostered Love" [I like tough guys but am essentially a true romantic at heart, so the fact that Christian and Jonah liked each other even as kids really got me:]. So, if you decide to trade in another of the Hawkin's brothers novels, I'd suggest that one to be the replacement.

Nichole (DirrtyH) I think I do have that one, so maybe I will. Thanks!
