it was amazing

When McMurphy arrives at the mental hospital, the life of the patients there will never be the same. Tormented by the dictator, nurse Ratched, who seems to be untouchable by her authority, the patients will try to defy all the rules that, until then, they never thought of even transgress, afraid of the outcomes and the fury of Ratched upon them.

The whole book is told by the perspective of Chief Bromden, the elder patient of the mental hospital. He deceives the others, who think he is deaf-mute and that doesn’t notice what is going on. But, in fact, he is our eyes and ears for everything that starts to happen when McMurphy gets in this strange group of unbalanced people. It’s funny to see how sometimes the descriptions are combined with the hallucinations of Bromden, and the scenery he builds and the interpretations he does according to them.

I laughed with this book, a lot. I wanted to throw it against the wall when Ratched appeared. I just had this urge to start yelling at the patients for them to react. I became so fond of McMurphy and his stupid bets. I loved the way he tried to change the patients and really improve their lives for better.

This amazing book shows how people can be conformed with the way their lives are ruled, even if their rights are few or unjust. How society can mold their minds, so they can’t really see beyond that. Beyond that, is only fog...

McMurphy will show to every each and one of them how to fight for themselves and gain their individuality back.

A remarkable book, really worth reading... Every bit of it!
