Rachel Today is a perfectly snowy day in Philadelphia. Everything is so fluffy and white. Bunny frolicked jubilantly in the park and tried to catch my snowballs in her mouth. I keep hearing people complaining about the weather. They are crazy! They must not have read this book!

Jessica Hooray! I love this book. I love my sister, and Philadelphia, and Bunny the dog. I even kind of love the snow! But I need to buy boots....

Ariel I miss snow painfully!!! Did I tell you I got a dog? Her name is Winifrid (Winnie more often) and she wants nothing more than to frolic in the snow with Bunny. Instead she is ripping a toy Santa to shreds in the living room.

Rachel Ariel, you must take Winnie to Big Bear Lake or she will end up in psychoanalysis later. DOGS LOVE SNOW! LOVE IT! Oh my goodness you must an LA person by now. Do you put definite articles in front of freeway numbers? Clap at the end of movies? Cause traffic jams on Hyperion Ave as you wait for a parking space to open up right next to the Trader Joe's entrance? I want to visit you!

I would love the snow even more if people around here would salt their sidewalks. I'm worried about knocking all my teeth out again.

Ariel Winnie's going home with Kris for Christmas so she'll get to have snow there, but I will be left in California only to fantasize about her frolicking.
If I actually drove on the freeway I would put a definite article in front of the number (that weirds Kris out too), however, I'm confined to city streets, taking absurdly long times to get places.

Do come visit! It would be fabulous if you could bring Bunny - Winnie longs for a friend. Speaking of saying what my dog longs for...there's a hilarious essay about dogs/dog owners in this book I'm reading "Tiny Ladies in Shiny Pants" - bringing us back to our book-themed networking site. You should read it! I laugh whenever I think about it.

matthew hunh. when i was in LA for thanksgiving, the use of the definite article before freeway numbers was noted. of course, i was staying with native east coasters. when did you knock all of your teeth out, before, rachel?

Jessica Look on the bright side, Ariel: if your dog ever winds up needing psychoanalysis, LA is probably the best place you could be.

Rachel knocked out her teeths at a tender age when she slipped on the skating rink at Iceland! (Obviously they forgot to salt it, but she was too gracious to sue.)

Ariel Winnie probably will need psychoanalysis, when we got her she was still recovering from a horrible case of painful mange plus pneumonia and worms. Her past is a dark mystery.

matthew well, she got new teeth, it seems. i recall noting them when she used to smile upon me... sigh.

perhaps an animal psychic can illuminate your winnie's past, ariel! i hear they're quite common, in LA.

i know a great pet sitting/walking service, in long beach, by the way - my oldest friend's little sister runs it, and i got to spend time with some of her charges, over thanksgiving (a pug who slept on me, among them; she boards, as well). they seemed pleased with her services.

Lesley Weird. I was just thinking about this book the other day. Like out of the nowhere. It hadn't even snowed yet! I have many vivid memories of pulling this book out of the slatted bookshelf in Ms. Sue's kindergarten class at Thousand Oaks. Back then I'd never seen snow, of course, but it sure looked completely awesome. I love everything about the way this book looks, right down to the Caldecott Medal adorning its cover. I feel all fuzzy.
