I'm tired of people ripping this book to pieces and secretely devouring it. I don't believe you for a second that you didn't enjoy it if you happened to have ratings and long rants about the following books.

Accept it! Stephanie Meyer kept you reading her very long books! And you are only complaining about stalking tendencies because YOU know this is fiction.

I DON'T WANT A GUY WATCHING ME SLEEP. In real life that's creepy.

BELLA COULD HAVE GOTTEN HERSELF KILLED MULTIPLES TIMES IF IT HADN'T BEEN FOR EDWARD's STALKER tendencies. Again in real life I don't want to date a stalker. In a fictional realm some things are necessary to keep the woman a vampire loves alive and the readers turning the pages.

AND IF STEPHANIE MEYER IS SUCH A BAD WRITER BY ALL MEANS GO AND WRITE A BETTER BOOK. Good luck with that!Let's see how many agents push for your book.

Now don't you like junk food? Do you really only eat select cuisine? Admit it! You put crazy stuff in your McDonalds french fries and then claim is the most delicious thing ever! Not every meal has to be a delicattessen and not every read has to become the next War and peace. You just don't read the book.

I find the people who says I'm stupid because I ADORE TWILIGHT to be snobbish, arrogant and insufferable.

I like twilight and I'm proud I like twilight. Plenty of people wouldn't read or write if it hadn't been for twilight. The publishing industry would have lost money if girls like me hadn't started reading book like twilight. Millions of women around the world got to love twilight and they're not stupid, they just don't share your taste in books.

6 STARS TO A SIMPLE HOUSEWIFE WHO TOOK THE PUBLISHING INDUSTRY BY STORM.

Ivan Amberlake Great review, Veronica! If we love a book, we should say so.

Of course! Nobody should make fun of other people tastes! That's just snobish and rude. It's sad there are many closet twihards that are afraid to say they like twilight because they get attacked. That's not fair.

Ivan Amberlake I absolutely agree, Veronica.

Krissie I liked the books the movies ehh they killed it with Kristen Stewart lol

V. A Court of Wings and Ruin is NEW ADULT/EROTICA but ŷ editors won't tell you to include it in the choice awards I think the problem is that people hate Kristen (I don't know why, she's cool, but whatever) and even more people hate the movies but the books are way better than the movies, Bella is so strong in the book in the movie she doesn't even cook or help angela or is friendly to the quilettes or ride her motorcycle for fun instead of suicidal stupidity. Bella in the book is cool, imperfect but relatable and people would love her better if they give the books a chance instead of hating them because the movie.

Corinne I agree 100%

Alex Sterner Veronica, let me just say that your review is the best yet.

IKR!!!! Whatever. They're just jealous Meyer's made a gazillion dollars on a book about sparkly, vegetarian vampires!

Great review V!

Thanks Dishka! Very few authors can write characters that make sense like SM does.

And the booktube world! If it hadn't been for her YA books wouldn't be so popular now. They'd be popular, but not the way they are.

Megha Preach girl preach! Twilight was probably one of the first books I ever read for 'fun'. I absolutely adored it back then and still do. Great review!

Diana Actually, I can't stand the book, and trust me I don't secretly like it. I think it's great that you enjoy it, but I got about 3 chapters in and wanted to slap Bella. I could not stand her. I tried to come back to it a few times and DNF'd it.

To each their own :)

Kiki My initial question was "how is it even humanly possibly for someone to be so clumsy to be capable to kill themselves with clumsiness?"
Then I looked at myself in the mirror.
Case dismissed!

Lelee Dow lol I love Twilight as well I'm actually Re-Reading the series again now

Annie love love your rant. 100% agree!!!

Liana So on the money!!!

Hana ♡ Totally agree! I loved these books while I was in High School. Maybe I wouldn't have loved them as much if I read them when I was older but they still had a huge impact on why I love to read today! :)

LOL! I'm clumsy myself! I could totally relate to Bella's lack of ability to PE. She's like Rory Gilmore that way.

I still look fondly on those days. The first two books were really good, Eclipse was bad and Breaking Dawn was an epic fail."

I agree about Eclipse. I blame SM editor. Stupid guy liked Jacob (and stupid werewolf doesn't understand that consent is important!!!! I hate him!!!!) and asked SM to write more of him. But orignally it was going to be only Twilight and then Forever Dawn later breaking dawn. No Jacob, drama!!

You aren't crazy, they secretely likely too or they havent read it and think the movie is like the book. And it isn't!! Bella isn't likeable in the movie, at least not for me.

I sometimes find negative reviews that say "those book are juvenile" Duh!!! They are supposed to be for girls 13-19!! I still think they are good even though I'm older now. There's something about those book that is timeless.

➰ I've read these books numerous times and enjoyed them every time. And I'm no spring chicken lol.

message 45: by Danielle (new)

Danielle haha great review, Veronica. I agree - it's become the in thing to dislike this series. I didn't like the movies, but I do remember devouring these books years ago. I don't think I'd like them as an adult, as I'm not a fan of YA anymore, but they certainly got millions of people reading. Which is saying something.

message 46: by O (new)

O I'm guilty of watching the movie instead of the book but honestly, I've read such douchebag rapey heroes in romance lately that Edward (even including his stalker tendencies) would seem like a perfect gentleman in comparison. Not sure what that says about the romance industry in general, but we've definitely had a lot worse romance novels than Twilight.

⋆☆☽ Kriss ☾☆⋆ Although I personally was never In Love with Twilight (a friend like shoved her copy at me one day, told me to read it, and I did; she wanted someone to talk to about it. Took a while for Twilight to catch on in my humdrum little community), I liked them well enough as a young teen--enough to read and get through all four books--and I understand the appeal the series has. It of course has its flaw, but there are few books without and this is definitely was trying to just be quick, enjoyable reading for a young audience interested in some good old romantic fantasizing, not some intense piece of literature or anything particularly beautiful or meaningful; it's a paranormal romance for teens lol. These days, I don't have any inclination to read the series again, but I don't hold any like Aggressively Negative feelings towards it; it may not be my cup of tea, but that doesn't mean it's evil or horrible.

In all honestly, I think a lot of the hate just purely stems from our demonized views of teen girls and their particular type of femininity. In western society, if teen girls like it or do it, it's "stupid" or "shallow" or something negative (reminds me of Elle Woods from Legally Blonde; everyone thinks very poorly of her for liking pink and being ultra feminine and girlie even though she's incredibly smart and an pretty great person) and people encourage girls to abandon liking most "girl" things (which is why you see so many get "Not Like Other Girls Syndrome"). So since this caught on as something teens around the world loved, everyone else got all huffy with their misogyny and went "well, if a teen girl likes it, it must be trash!" Lots of people come into the book with an inherent bias, knowing teen girls like it and assuming that teen girls don't have the capacity to like anything worthwhile, so they zero in on any flaw (which leads to confirmation bias), ignore any good, and naturally close the book thinking "Yep! I was right, it's trash!"
