Lock and Key: Sarah Dessen) process
-why is ruby being so mean to her sister?
-whats up with ruby, and the "i don't want any friends"
-i think ruby and Nate are going to have a "more than friends relationship" sometime in the book
-why doesn't ruby let anyone get close to her.
-ruby and Jamie are already close. why cant ruby just talk to him?
-its getting annoying how the key is always being mentioned. but i think it has a deeper more significant meaning.
-is Olivia supposed to be like ruby? they both are new and they're both from Jackson high
-why is Nate's dad- Blake so weird. the way he tried to strangle Roscoe.
-its so cute how Roscoe acts around ruby. when ruby was petting Roscoe, he acted in such away as if they'd known each other for years and as if ruby's touch was magical
-what is the real reason that Cora left so many years ago?
-why did Cora all of a sudden take ruby in? did she want to, or was she forced to?
-i think that Cora and ruby will start to bond again
-haha! Gervais makes me laugh.
-Gervais has a crush on ruby
-heather is so blind sighted.
-whats the real reason why ruby's mom left?
-whats the other side of Nate, the hidden one
-heather is such a control freak. but she's also really nice and selfless
-i think that ruby's fish symbolizes her. because the way the white fish is unique and stands out is the same way ruby is unique and stands out.
-the key is supposed to symbolize home, that no matter what Ruby will always have a home to go back to.
-i hate how when ruby got drunk, she was saying how it was in her genes. (from her mom) and then she kept telling herself how she couldn't stop herself because the changes were already starting. and that ruby was becoming like her mom
-its so sweet how Nate keeps on wanting to help ruby. reminds me of me. because i like making friends with the new people in school.
-why cant ruby just accept that Nate wants to be her friend and she is friends with Nate.
-i think that the author kind of exaggerates on Gervais. because I'm 12 and I'm pretty sure 12 year old boys don't laugh hysterically when they burp or fart. but i never know. Gervais sounds more like a 6 year old to me.
-ruby has really changed. and that's what she was afraid of, i think. i think that she was afraid that she'll forget who she really is, who her real friends are, where her real home is. but i don't think that matters. i think that her real self is the person she is now, the house with Cora and Jamie, and her real friends Nate, heather, Olivia, Gervais, Reggie. She just hasn't had the chance to be able to live this before.
-ruby's mom confuses me. she's a druggie, and i think she's also an abuser. at 1st her husband left her, and then Cora left her. so now shes left with ruby. she doesn't want ruby to leave her, cause then she'll be all alone. so she decided to leave ruby.
-it's so sad how ruby and Cora are strangers to each other .they haven't seen each other in over 10 years. that is just plain sad. and even sadder how the same thing has happened to many people like ruby and Cora. not knowing or meeting your sibling for such a long period of time and then all of a sudden knowing them

After Ruby's mom abandoned her, she was sent to live with her older sister-Cora, whom she hasn't seen over 10 years. Ruby wears the key around her neck on a cheap chain, because of all the countless times she lost them.
A key opens a door just a normal regular door. And in Ruby's case, I think that the key means something much much more. I think that the key is supposed to be to open a new door to try something new.
The biggest moment with the yellow house key is when Ruby purposely drops it in the pond. IT shows, that she's doing something new. That she has let go of her past life and finally accepted her new life.
The most important thing that has happened to Ruby is that she changed. She's still Ruby Cooper but she;s a new Ruby Cooper. And the key was just a tiny reason why. It gave her hope. That she can and she should open a new door and that maybe something good will happen to her for a change.
