Julie I just finished listening to this one. It was surprisingly authentic.. Although I have not seen the Cohen Brother movie, I remember the john Wayne movie well. It follows the book and includes most of the major scenes and events. The narration may change the experience somewhat, in that it is a written in first person, so the narrator's voice must be accepted as the main character, I think it was the "telling" of the story that made it an authentic event for me. I will be interested to hear what you think.

Florence (Lefty) MacIntosh I'm looking forward to reading it Julie, and thanks for sharing your thoughts on it. I just finished another of his books The Dog of the South yesterday. Thought I'd read it as didn't already know the outcome as with True Grit. Interesting you'd describe his writing as authentic - couldn't have come up with a better adjective. My 1st time reading him and I think he's just great, and quite funny as well (an injection of humour always appeals to me) Anyway, I've downloaded all this books now (there's only 5). Haven't got this excited by an author in a while.
