Greta (goodreadsgreta) | 4547 comments This thread is for people who want some help finding their next good read.

What type of book you are looking for? Maybe someone from our group can help you find it :)

message 2: by Jonababez (new)

Jonababez | 2453 comments Yay! I've been thinking about this kind of thread too, and my title for it is BOOK INQUIRY. LOL!

message 3: by Jalyn (new)

Jalyn (jalynnie) | 3833 comments Good idea! I like the title you already have up. I knew exactly what this thread was before I even got on here :)

message 4: by Jalyn (new)

Jalyn (jalynnie) | 3833 comments Anybody know of any really good, fast paced, paranormal YA books? I'd like to read something I can't put down :)

message 5: by Greta (new)

Greta (goodreadsgreta) | 4547 comments do you want it to be romantic?

message 6: by Jonababez (new)

Jonababez | 2453 comments Paranormal? What kind of paranormals? I've got lots on my mind, LOL!

message 7: by Greta (last edited Jan 09, 2013 11:54AM) (new)

Greta (goodreadsgreta) | 4547 comments well, have you ever read Glimmerglass (Faeriewalker, #1) by Jenna Black or Paranormalcy (Paranormalcy, #1) by Kiersten White or Blood Debt by Nancy Straight or Touch of Frost (Mythos Academy, #1) by Jennifer Estep or Dead Girls Are Easy (Nicki Styx, #1) by Terri Garey

message 8: by Tati (last edited Jan 09, 2013 12:02PM) (new)

Tati how about those:

Moon Called (Mercedes Thompson, #1) by Patricia Briggs First Grave on the Right (Charley Davidson, #1) by Darynda Jones Darkness Before Dawn by J.A. London Half-Blood (Covenant, #1) by Jennifer L. Armentrout Existence (Existence Trilogy, #1) by Abbi Glines

There is a bit of everything in this list, from grim reapers to shape shifters. And First Grave to the Right would count for the Winter challenge.

message 9: by Jalyn (new)

Jalyn (jalynnie) | 3833 comments Greta - it doesn't have to be romantic. I've been debating about buying Paranormalcy for a while so thanks! I'll put it in my Amazon shopping cart :) Glimmerglass looks good too :)

Jona - I don't really mind what type of paranormal, I just want something that moves fast. Did you ever read The DaVinci Code? They moved from one thing to the next, like racing a clock. I'm looking for something like that :)

Tatiana - Thanks! First Grave on the Right looks really good (and I see some reviews saying that it's funny. Always a plus!). I looove the cover of Darkness Before Dawn and that was on my TBR list anyhow, so I think I'll pick that up too! :D

If you guys can think of anything else then please let me know! I have some Christmas money that's begging to be spent on books :D

message 10: by Jonababez (new)

Jonababez | 2453 comments I recommend Unearthly (Unearthly, #1) by Cynthia Hand , Nightshade (Nightshade, #1) by Andrea Cremer , Grave Mercy (His Fair Assassin, #1) by R.L. LaFevers , Sweet Venom (Medusa Girls #1) by Tera Lynn Childs

I'm not sure if you've read them. ;)

message 11: by Jonababez (last edited Jan 09, 2013 03:07PM) (new)

Jonababez | 2453 comments I'm searching for a book with cute/handsome guys in the cover. Content is not necessary, just the cover. LOL!
Like for example:
Charade (Games, #1) by Nyrae Dawn and Losing It by Cora Carmack and The Boys of Summer (Summer Series, #1) by C.J. Duggan and Rule (Rule #1) by Jay Crownover

message 12: by Greta (new)

Greta (goodreadsgreta) | 4547 comments LOL! i honestly don't know if you are serious or not :)

message 13: by Jonababez (new)

Jonababez | 2453 comments I'm serious! LOL! Please find more for me! LOL!

message 14: by Greta (new)

Greta (goodreadsgreta) | 4547 comments hmm...i think Sara and Novel are the best at finding NEw Adult books with hot guys, but I'll look around : )

message 15: by Jonababez (new)

Jonababez | 2453 comments YA/contemporary books also, as long as there are cute guys in the cover. LOL! Novel actually recommended me Rule (Rule #1) by Jay Crownover

Greta (goodreadsgreta) | 4547 comments what about The Secret of Ella and Micha (The Secret, #1) by Jessica Sorensen ? I've considered reading it myself, because it fits with one of the upcoming weeks for the storytelling challenges

message 18: by Jalyn (new)

Jalyn (jalynnie) | 3833 comments Jona, have you read For the Love of a Vampire (Blood Like Poison, #1) by M. Leighton ? It's free on Amazon and I really liked it.

Also, I've heard The Coincidence of Callie and Kayden (The Coincidence, #1) by Jessica Sorensen is really good :)

message 19: by Jalyn (new)

Jalyn (jalynnie) | 3833 comments Do you have to be able to see all of his face? I really liked the Jessica's Guide to Dating on the Dark Side (Jessica, #1) by Beth Fantaskey series.

Greta, did you read (view spoiler) I love that series. Lucius=swoon! I actually met Beth Fantaskey a couple of years ago at a library about a half hour from where I live. She was awesome. She signed books and talked about how she writes and took questions. Then she hung around to chat and take pictures afterwards. It was a great night :)

message 24: by Greta (new)

Greta (goodreadsgreta) | 4547 comments I have read it! You are so right! I swooned for Lucius and his cousin !
Very cool that you met the author. HYR any other books by her?

message 25: by Jalyn (last edited Jan 09, 2013 08:21PM) (new)

Jalyn (jalynnie) | 3833 comments I read Jekel Loves Hyde by Beth Fantaskey , but it wasn't quite a good as the Jessica books. I'm so partial to Lucius though. He's a hard one to top :)

message 26: by Novel (new)

Novel (velsanchez1) | 2886 comments @Jalyn,

Jalyn (jalynnie) | 3833 comments That's ok! I'd love to read it with you, especially since Novel put it in her top reads! Would it work for next week in the story-telling challenge?

you should join Greta and Jalyn! This is like a lighter version of Kay Hooper's Bishop series... and it also reminds me a bit of The Body Finder series.... I think it's because of the mystery and the psychic stuff going on in the book.

Jae | 8 comments My sister reads a lot but some of the books she recommends doesn't really appeal to me for no particular reason. She said hunger games was good but i didn't like the plot so i never read it.

Do you have any dystopian novels out there that is not too much romantic

Starters (Starters and Enders, #1) by Lissa Price Ashfall (Ashfall, #1) by Mike Mullin Monument 14 (Monument 14 #1) by Emmy Laybourne

A lot of people loved starters and it wasn't very romantic. Ashfall, i loved. It was a great survival story.
I haven't read Monument 14, but I'm doing a buddy read for it next week, and it doesn't look like it's going to be very romantic.
Also heard good things about Gone (Gone, #1) by Michael Grant and since the characters are pretty young, I doubt theres a lot of romance.
If you like a little scifi with your dystopian , then I would also suggest Across the Universe (Across the Universe, #1) by Beth Revis

I'm reading Unwind (Unwind, #1) by Neal Shusterman right now and it's really good! We just started a buddy read for it if you want to join :) http://www.goodreads.com/topic/show/1...

Divergent (Divergent, #1) by Veronica Roth and The Maze Runner (Maze Runner, #1) by James Dashner were really good and not too romantic if you haven't read either of those series yet.
