Christi I listened to the audiobook of The Great Gatsby for this category. I enjoyed the book a lot. I just wish the ending hadn't been given away in the GoodReads blurb. Just because a book is a classic, doesn't mean everyone knows what happens at the end.
My review is here: /review/show...

Grace Meredith (koreantrash) I read it and HATED it. I found it very dry and boring, and super difficult to understand. If you're looking for a better example of F. Scott Fitzgerald's brilliance, read The Diamond as Big as the Ritz, and other short stories.

Jessie Wolf I'm cheating a little bit reading this book for this week because this is for my course in September which I haven't read yet. I've seen the film but I thought that was pants, hoping the book is better

Brandy B (bybrandy) | 12 comments I'm contemplating this one. I was never assigned it but other classes were. But if I pick for book I was assigned and didn't read I'd have to go with my bio text book. Because lit? I read all of those.

JackAttack Will be reading this for this week! Have really no exposure to plot, movie, etc so kind of excited to see what the fuss is about.

Connie Crum (libraryof1k) | 58 comments My Junior English teacher killed this book for me. I think we spent two weeks on the symbolism.

I honestly hate all of the characters. All of them. They were just... awful. Yes, they had great development throughout the story, but the personalities were horrid.

Kirsty | 6 comments I'm so glad I'm not the only one who didn't enjoy this book. I found it so dull I had to take a break from it. so it became the book I didn't finish.
but wow it's terrible and I have no idea why people made a big deal out of it

Jody (jodybell) | 531 comments I didn't enjoy this one either - although it has been many, many years since I've read it. I also tried to watch the Baz Luhrmann film, and have abandoned that - it was truly woeful.

Anastasia (anastasiaharris) | 319 comments I am only on page 87 and hate it so far. I am glad that it is a short book.

The blurb at the front of my copy says that it was given out as a free book to service men and women during World War II, otherwise it may have passed into obscurity. I honestly think that it should have.

Jessie Wolf I'm about half way through and don't find it too bad, I think because it is fairly short and very plan spoken, it tells you exactly what is happening

Jessie Wolf I thought the last 2 chapters were actually really good and I can understand why the book has become very influential. Definitely better than the film

Rebekah | 98 comments I enjoyed the book. It wasn't that great in the first chapter, but got better as I read more of it.
