1. The Little Stranger
2. Come Closer
3. Dead Sea
4. Under the Skin
5. The Ruins

1. Kin
2. Sharp Objects
3. Skin Medicine
4. When We Join Jesus In Hell
5. Picking the Bones

Amanda- Mr. Hands will probably scare the crap outta me. I for some reason have had an unnatural fear of dolls since I was a kid (and clowns!). So it's definitely on my tbr list now :)
Stephanie- the Deadlocked series looks really good. I'm a zombie fan for sure. Thanks for letting me know the first is free, I'll get that one ASAP!

Mr Hands is...complicated I don't know else how to put it. Braunbeck's books sort of have a chunk of soul in them. It gives a lot of his work some more meaning than many writers.

Make sure you read The Girl Next Door when you're feeling emotionally strong, Cindy! Amazing book, but hard on the heart...

Kinby Kealan Patrick Burke
The Hoardby Alan Ryker
The Bleeding Season by Greg Gifune
When We Join Jesus In Hell by Lee Thompson

(Except for Alan Ryker who I dug up on my own. :))

Haha, sorry!!

Charlene, This is the first time I've seen The Hoard or Alan Ryker mentioned, it looks really good. Appreciate it!

Now, if you don't want to buy a DarkFuse subscription yet, then here are a few of my horror favorites, sans Stephen King, in no particular order:
1. Swan Song
2. Carrion Comfort
3. I am Legend and Other Stories
4. Rosemary's Baby
5. The Exorcist
6. The Silence of the Lambs
7. Books of Blood, Vols. 1-3
8. Dead Sea

The Passage by Justin Cronin.
This is not your typical vampire story and it's set in a post apocalyptic future.
It's the first part of a trilogy. I haven't read the next two books yet, but I am planning to (the second book has been recently released and the third one is still being written).

1. Ghost Road Blues- Bk 1 (Pine Deep)
2. Dead Man's Song- Bk 2 (Pine Deep)
3. Bad Moon Rising - Bk 3 (Pine Deep)
4. Patient Zero
5. Dead of Night

I agree with your list too. Those are all of the Maberry books that I have read so far. :)

Wow, added! That looks really interesting, thankya ma'am.

That looks really good, thanks for the recommendation. The list keeps growing ;)

3. Bad Moon Rising - Bk 3 (Pine Deep)

5. Dead of Night"
I've looked at a few of Maberry's books on here and they all looked like something I'd love to read, especially the Pine Deep series. Thanks!

Haha, it's fine, I wasn't tryin to get all strict on y'all :) I just wanted to know what everyone would recommend if they couldn't give me like 100 books to look into; its overwhelming looking at some of those lists!

Glad you like it, Cindy!
The Haunting of Hill House is my favorite non-King horror.
You can't go wrong with early John Saul. He was another favorite growing up. It's been awhile though.
I'm drawn towards dark-fantasy in my horror. So I like Clive Barker. The Great and Secret Show used to be my all time favorite. And-
I used to read a lot of Anne Rice. The Witching Hour is my favorite. And-
Dean Koontz, my favorite is Strangers.

I'm just messing with them because it ultimately happens. We just can't stop ourselves from listing everything we love.

I have a couple more group of 5 books to add.

1. Bad Moon Rising

3. Bad Moon Rising - Bk 3 (Pine Deep)
4. Patient Zero
5. Dead of Night"..."

I would have a hard time picking out my favorite of this five: Patient Zero is an action/horror story. Dead of Night is a GREAT zombie thriller. Each Pine Deep Book builds upon the one before it...the ending to Bad Moon Rising is sooooooo good!

I have read the entire first season and 4 of the 6 episodes in the 2nd season. Horror story for sure, with a large cast of characters and many locations. But a well written storyline. They got me hooked!
