May Read-a-Thon!
It really, really helps, Mary: HDLS. The mistakes I have made on the Tower Teams Reading Challenge are 99.9% due to confusing someone with someone else. I try and try to differentiate people, but it is hard on the Internet. Avatars change, and so do names. Some people don't like the {Name Alert} I put after their names, but - let me tell you - it does make me stop and double check... and I still make mistakes with them!

Tee hee, for the longest time, I couldn't figure out what 'secret' anagram HDLS was...duhhhh! And sadly, even when I figured it out, I forgot for a day or so bec..."
It took me almost too days to figure it out... I think brain left for the Bahamas and forget to inform me

When do we have to have all our read-a-thon info turned in? I couldn't find that on the main read-a-thon page but I really thought I saw someone ask already. I know we can make some changes up to May 8th.
I also saw that they want people to report their progress every few hours (that seems like a lot for me because some people can't post at work but I doubt they intend to be super strict about that). Anyway, I can access at work and can be the one who posts our progress in the main read-a-thon thread.

Theme: Uniforms of any kind
Color: (blue obviously)
I don't think we've resolved the picture mini-challenge thing have we?
I liked the ideas that Lisa Kay pmd us about for the theme/mini-challenge that we submit for our chance at possible bonus points.
Mary: HDLS, I'm not positive when and where Sonia wants things turned in for the R-a-T. I think May 1st in the R-a-T thread, and posted by the Captains.
I'd really like it if she made another thread, maybe over here in the "sister group" for just sign-ins and changes. **shrugs**
Sonia - correct me, if I'm wrong!

Goal Posting
By team captains on RaT page thread. Tell us the name of participants and their page goal.
Mini Challenge Submissions:
Team's Mini-Challenge & Game suggestion must be posted by one of the Team Captains/Co-Captains till the beginning of the Read-a-Thon May 1st PDT 8:00 AM (BST 4PM). After that it will not be rewarded with the 5 points even if the mods decided to use it during the event.
*The team Captains must send them by PM to the mod account or to Sonia with the subject: "RaT Mini-Challenge"
**Participation**
You can choose to participate and/or changing your goal anytime. However, we have points and prizes involved so to be fair the time limit to joining or change goal is May 8th PDT 8:00 AM (BST 4 PM).
No changes allowed passing the time limit.
In Short:
*Mini Challenges Due by May 1
*Submissions with goals posted Due by May 8 (see above notes for specific times and info!)

Or do we just need the non-reading challenge idea and then 1 mini-challenge that we submit that may or may not be picked for all the teams to do?
Good question, Mary: HDLS. I thought I had it figured it out... one mini-challenge theme, one non-reading challenge, and one suggestion for a mini-challenge. However, after re-reading the outline for the fifth time in as many days, I'm not sure! LOL! Sorry.
Sonia will answer all, I'm sure.
Sonia will answer all, I'm sure.

Okay, we need to choose a Theme, which we have: "Books in Uniform", which will be where we read at least ONE book (if you want, for team points) that has anything to do with uniforms -- on the cover, a character with a specific type of job that "wears" a uniform (which I have a list of somewhere in this thread). Our Uniform Ideas
Second, we read at least ONE book based on our team's color -- blue...any shade of blue, and the book cover only has to have blue as the predominant color, not necessarily entirely covered in blue.
**Books with Predominantly Blue Covers (I *love* how many blue books have the word 'blue' in the title! Made my search easy haha):

Thirdly, we create a non-reading mini challenge or game (just one, not both, I think) that we send to Sonia for review, if she likes it (or if she and the mods? Not sure on who gets to say in that) she will post them throughout the RaT for us to do as a "break" from reading. It's mindless and fun, not meant to be anything that requires reading. I made a list of all the nominated mini challenges that our group has come up with. The mini challenge can include posting a "rainbow" of book cover pictures; a picture of our favorite bookmarks; picture of our favorite reading spots or snacks; pic of our personal bookshelves; OR something entirely different from those examples. The point is just a fun little diversion throughout the RaT. It's not meant to take much time from our reading, either. 5 points if the mini challenge/game/whatever is accepted (I think). Mini Challenge Ideas We Have
I was in Team A with Sonia for Round 1 and we did a couple of RaTs that were run in similar fashion, minus the points system.
Examples of Mini-Games/Challenges:
**Rainbow Book Covers Example. Make a rainbow (red, orange, yellow, green, blue, violet, indigo) out of book covers (names do not matter) (use the "add book/author" tool and choose "cover":

**In Team A, we had one mini-game where we'd ask a question, then the next person would answer and ask another question and so on, until we had a few questions asked and answered. For example:
Teresa asks: "What is your favorite place to read?"
Sonia answers: "Bed." Sonia then asks: "What is your favorite snack?"
Mary answers: "Favorite place to read is my comfy chair", "favorite snack is cookie" Mary asks: "If you could be a character, who would you choose?" and so on, each person asking and answering questions (anyone jumping in at any time). I don't know that they have to be reading related, it's just what came to me as I made the sample.

Blue Cover Ideas!
If you're still in need of blue cover ideas, here are a bunch of Listopia lists that are blue-cover related! (too busy to name the links just now, will fix later)

Mowing the lawn is important, too!
And we still have a little bit of time to finalize our goals and participants list!

Ah! Good question, Mary: HDLS! We have about 38 hours to go... might as well post it, since I've seen nothing like it. See what the other members think.

Already filed away in the memory banks, mwahaha! Well, I mean, of course you can post it at will since it's YOUR idea but I have it on file just for a fun little challenge among just our team, too!

I know. I love it, too. However, really it came from everyone, especially people like you - who is always doing it! LMBO!

Tee hee hee!

Mary Dresden: 1200 pgs
Teresa: 1200 pgs
Lisa Kay: 1000 pgs
Jex: 600 pgs
Sonia: 600 pgs
Sarah: 1000 pgs
This is who I saw in this thread. Sending messags to other team members to ask if they are participating or not.
ETA: sent messages to Lindy, Jessica, Mary and Laura to ask if they are participating in the read-a-thon and to post here w/their page goal if they are.
Did I miss anyone?

Goodnight!
Oh, what about Lisarenee? I'm not sure if she's interested or not. Didn't see her name listed.

I'm amused. Here they are (enlarged):

If I read all of those, my total pages will be 1524. We'll see...
I may read

So...I'm stealing this idea from TMP. What if we open another thread and everyone post a spot and just update their pages there for the R-a-T?

Maybe call it something, like, May R-a-T Member Page Count Spot... or something more creative.
I'll let one of the Captains go first...

We do NOT have our five points yet for submitting a non-reading mini challenge. Is everything okay?

On the other hand, we've been talking about the mini-challenge for over a week now and if they haven't taken the opportunity to speak up yet.

LK - good idea on a new thread. And everyone will claim a "reserve" spot, right? Works for me.
Oh, I got maybe 2 hours of sleep, LOL! I got into bed and started reading True Blue. I didn't get far but still, I couldn't just lie down and sleep, nope, I had to start a book even with only 3 hours before wake-up time.
Yeah, we do have 19 hours & 55 minutes... but I thought it was sent last night!
Oh, I've done that with my sleeping pattern, too. Thank goodness for books, Teresa!

#1. I sit here for 2 hours catching up on Gone Girl discussions and reading every new notification like a fiend, rather than go get that lunch I mentioned. Still hungry, btw. LOL.
Mainly, I'm not sure what I want to eat so sitting here beats thinking, hahha. Okay, I'm going. After I hit refresh one last time...
