Two-Bit Players (2)

And I'll second Angie's suggestion for the team name. I like it!

I am excited to get going on this challenge because I read SO many different series.

I was wondering about the time difference for you Tineke. I am in the central time zone in the US and will absolutely have the die roll posted before 9 am on the Thursday and Sundays. What time will that be for you?

My next question is as your captain the last thing I want to be is the posting on time police. I would assume that since we all signed up for this challenge that we are fast readers. If you haven't posted by say noon on Wednesday and Saturday do you want me to message you?

You're in DST right now? Then we're 6 hours later here. So here it is 17.35 PM, and you're still in the morning 11.35 AM. Before 9 AM would mean, for me, before 15 PM.

I'll warn you that there may be some Wednesdays when I won't be able to post a review until after 9pm (eastern US) because of my work schedule, but on those days I can post a quick place-holder before noon to let you know, so no one will worry!

It looks like the captains have to prepare a special linking post of the teams reviews so it would be really helpful to me if after the dice roll and you post the book that you are going to read if you would reserve a spot where you will post your reviews so that I can prepare this linking post ahead of time. Either reserve a new post or post your review in your original - this is the book I am going to read post. Just let me know so I can link to the correct post for each of us. Thanks.
I am anxious to get started. I think this challenge will be a lot of fun. I hope I can use the same books in some of the other challenges I am doing.

This book is the 4th in the Theresa MacLean forensic expert series. Theresa is called to a crime scene at the Ritz-Carlton hotel in Cleveland where the body of one of her nemesis has been found. A female defense attorney who is notorious for ripping apart the testimony of forensics experts. There is a huge pool of suspects since the cops investigating the crime are all quite happy to see the witch dead. To complicate things even further, Theresa's daughter works at the same hotel along with her love interest who becomes the prime suspect. I liked this book and will read more in the series. I give it ★★★★

Review:I have to be honest I love a well written female character that is total bad ass. Rose Agen rocks! I love this series so much! This book is my favorite of the series so far. Rose Agen is a mighty warrior that is freakishly tall, strong, and determined to do what is right in her eyes. I highly recommend this series.

Review: It's been two years since I finished the originally-intended trilogy, so it took me awhile to get back into the Uglies universe, especially because the original characters (Tally, Shay, David, etc.) are not the main characters in Extras. While it's called the fourth book in the series, it really comes across as a stand-alone set in the same world, and it does re-cap important events from the earlier novels, usually through Aya (our new protagonist) remembering a history lesson. I doubt Tally Youngblood envisioned a fame culture and urban sprawl when she introduced the "mind-rain," which switched off everyone's "bubbleheadedness"(a condition that left everyone docile and clueless), but it's refreshing to see that dystopias don't become utopias because the hero saves the day. We're people who make mistakes, we're never going to live in a perfect world. My biggest problem with this novel is that too much happens, but not enough happens. There are a lot of themes introduced that have relevance in our current culture, but they are scattered and not always fully developed. But at the same time, the actual story is a pretty big let-down in that the dramatic conclusion falls pretty flat. So, a solid read, but nothing spectacular.

Review: Amog the barons is the 4th book in the shadow children series. Luke Garner is still passing himself off as Lee Grant but things are about to drastically change. He must go and live with his "parents" and they seem to have a plan for him right from the start. It was well written and had a good story line but I wouldn't say it's one of my all time favorites. I would recommend this to younger readers but if you are older than 12 you may not enjoy it as much.

Please stay tuned.

Sheila go ahead and roll away :)

You weren't :) It's just annoying to wait for someone who isn't responding. I do get that. It looked at first that I could make it, but I guess I undestimated it. It's still fun though, and I will try to follow your game and participate in my own way (without really participating.) I just messaged Jenne and I wish you guys a lot of fun!

Which puts us on space 10 so we can read book 1 of a series, book 10 of a series or a standalone book. Don't forget we also have the option of reading the alternative book as well.

sounds like a creepy, stalker type book.

This was my first time reading this author but definitely won't be the last. This book really creeped me out. I read a lot of murder mysteries but this one involved being stalked. I seem to handle serial killers better than stalkers. The MC was in with a group of popular/mean girls in college who played what they considered an innocent prank on a male classmate on Valentine's Day. Well this man NEVER forgot the prank and now for each Valentine's Day one of the group is dying. Scary book. I give it ★★★★

Review:This is the first book in a series which is very unique in concept. It's about grandparents named Beebop and Nana and their grandchildren Aidan and Maggie vacationing over Spring Break while their parents are camping. They encounter a world they didn't think was possible only in myths and legends. Where they learn the power of family and love. Looking forward to the next book.

Review: Karou's not your typical 17 year-old. There's the blue hair (that actually grows out of her head that color), the tattoos (that change and vanish seemingly on a whim), and, of course, there's also the fact that she was raised by chimaera (half-human, half-animal creatures that would probably be called monsters or demons by her human friends and classmates). But, while we know she's not normal, we don't really know who or what she is, because she doesn't either. Daughter of Smoke & Bone is adventure, mystery and paranormal romance all rolled into a fun, smart package. It's filled with memorable characters, like Zuzana (her best friend, a human, who decides that she will probably be the kind of old lady who shoots children with a crossbow), Brimstone (her foster father, a chimaera, who warns about inessential penises), and more, who fill out this story, giving it heart and humor in perfect balance. I'm looking forward to book two!
