Ok, I THINK I have my list sorted, out, all but 1, and that will have to be checked out later, since its the SciFi one--and I just have to weed those down to only 1. :oP
So, my current list (again, subject to change, depending on what comes in/I find when out wandering about) is:
1 Romance: To Catch a Wolf by Susan Krinard
2 Urban Fantasy: Witch Hunt--Shirley Damsgaard
3 Fantasy The Enchantment Emporium

I know what you mean. I've already changed my list once or twice too, and I'm sure it'll change throughout the challenge. Buying used books is my latest addiction so I have so many here to read, and so many more that I want to buy. I have Witch Hunt listed as one of my suspense/ thriller options. I'm happy to see that someone besides me will be reading it for this months challenge.

Ha, I did that too. I had planned on going to bed at 4:30ish but ended up reading Swallowing Darkness (Meredith Gentry, #7) for another two hours. Nothing like going to bed when the sun is coming up. o_O
what--you mean that you are SUPPOSED to subject yourself to that hot, bright, killing ball in the sky? I thought that we was meant to sleep through its journey in the Sky Boat. :oP (Sorry, watched The Sun Disk On Nat Geo last night. So I have all these ancient symbols and titles running through my mind right now.)

Ha. I love the nighttime, it's just so quiet and peaceful around my house then. It really is the perfect reading time, but sometimes I just get carried away and stay up waaaaay too late.

Love the challenge, so I couldn't help but make a list of my own. Hope I'm not too late to join.
Here is my list:
1.
2.
3.
4.
5.
6. Young Adult: Enchantress from the Stars by Engdahl
7. Chick Lit: Thomas the Rhymer by Ellen Kushner
8. Erotic: Kushiel's Dart by Jacqueline Carey
9. Horror: Nightwatch by Sergei Lukyaneko
I hope all my picks are appropriate.
Wonderful Challenge!! =D
Edit: One down!!
Edit 8/10 - Well that urban fantasy took longer then I expected. Dont know how you guys all manage to read so many books in a month. =)
Edit 8/11 - I think next challenge I will have to pick shorter books.
Edit 8/15 - So far not a lot of romance in the books I picked. Guess I should have done more research before making a list! Next time. =)
Edit 8/17 - Only four left to go. I might actually make it. =)
1. Romance To Catch a Wolf by Susan Krinard
2. Urban Fantasy Witch Hunt by Shirley Damsgaard
3. Fantasy The Enchantment Emporium by Tanya Huff)
4. Historical The Daughters Grimm by Minda Webber
5. Futuristic/Sci-Fi (stories set either in the future or in outer space)
6. Young Adult Tomorrow’s Magic by Pamela F. Service
7. Chick-Lit Sucker for Love by Kimberly Raye
8. Erotica Guardian: The Time Hunters book 2 by Angela Knight
9. Suspense/ The Night Visitor by James D. Doss
Also read:
The Bohemian Murders by Dianne Day
A taste of magic by Tracy Madison
Today wasn't a "good" day, pain wise. So I wasn't really into reading anything even remotely close to dark. So I finished off my post-Great Quake and Fire (1906) San Francisco mystery, then read 2 "light" (i.e. amusing) books--only 1 of which I could figure out a place for. However, I listed both in the hopes that someone might come up with a place to put it. :oP
On to my report on the Challenge book I read. I like Tanya Huff's writing style, especially when she's doing one of her humourous lines. Emporiaum is in the same vein as her "Keeper" series, rather than the Blood or Smoke or even the scifi Confederation series. It deals with the Gear family, an extended (VERY extended) family of magic users. There are usually many more daughters born into the family than there are males. And the males seem to be related to Herne (the Horned Lord of mythology) while the females seem to be serious magic users along the lines of Circe. The story takes place in Calgary where Allie is called to take over her (possibly) deceased Grandmothers shop. While there, she runs into 12 Dragon Lords, a Dragon Queen, Dragon Prince, sorceror, fae and. . . . Well, you get the idea. A nice, light, humourous story. I give it 4.5 stars.

The Dark Highlander, Karen Marie Moning

The Immortal Highlander, Karen Marie Moning
The Highlander series from KMM is fantastic. Never does the obvious happen in this series. She never fails to keep you breathless, in the plot or by the Highland men that steal your heart. These books sizzle. They tell of Fae, Druids, time travel and historical Scotland.
Acheron, Sherrilyn Kenyon
This is SK's masterpeice, at over 700+ pages, it never got old or did it slow. If you haven't read the dark-hunter series, run and don't walk to get all the books.
Monster, Johnathan Kellerman
A thiller, with suspense and tWists and turns that Kellerman is known for. A psycological slap in the face, so to speak. Enjoyed this one.

7. Chick-Lit: You Slay Me by Katie Macaliser
8. Erotica: Full Moon Rising by Keri Arthur
9. Suspense/Thriller/Horror:Blue Diablo by Ann Aguirre, or Witch Way to Murder by Shirley Damsgaard
I absolutely love Nalini Singh's Psy-Changeling series! Visions of Heat(book 2), in my opinion, moves a little faster than the first, but I wasn't disappointed. I plan to continue reading this series. After reading book 2, I feel like this series is leading up to something, like some great reveal I'm not sure, and I can't wait to find out why. I've purchased the next one in this series, and I'm thinking it was a mistake not get them all; one that can be fixed easily enough.

Well, that's 2 down. This is the newest of the Night Huntress novels, and came out just before the first, so I was sitting on pins and needles waiting til I could start it. So far, this is the best--and in some ways, the most heart rending--of the books. Plus at the end of the novel Frost has an excerpt from a new novel that is going to be a spin-off from the Night Huntress Novel. I won't share what the heart-rending part is, so that I don't spoil the story. Kat and Bones, plus all the rest of their entourage are at it again, this time involved in a vamp war with an ancient vamp that wants Cat for his own.

Well, a change already. I just started To Catch a Wolf and discovered that IT is an historical, so I decided to change that from romance to historical and to put my Sandra Hill into the romance. :o) Yes, the Sandra Hill is only sort-of PNR--but who am I to argue with Tante Lulu about if she does or does not have the ear of St. Jude. Depending on how you want to number it--its either like #7 or so of the Cajun books, or #4 of the Jinx books. There is some over-lap of the 2 series, Tante Lulu being the most notable of those over-laps. Its a light hearted, quick and fun read starring Tante of course, plus Angel Sabato and Grace O'Brien as the 2 lovers that Tante Lulu has sicced St. Jude onto. I give it 5 stars, at least 1 of which is just for Tante Lulu (she reminds me a LOT of my own Great-grandmother, Mammy.)
Now, having said that, a quick rant on publishers and their stupid choices of cover models. You'd think that when the heroine is a red-head and the hero is half Hispanic and half Italian they'd get a couple of models that at least semi-matched the descriptions instead of the same old blond bimbo and white-bread male. (A complaint that also goes to the Night Huntress books, since Cat is supposed to have flame red hair, but the model on the current cover is--you guessed it, a blond bimbo.)
Ann in VA who valiently waves the flag of support for her red-headed sisters (and the fact that my family has many, many, many red-heads only mildly influences that support.) :o) Also, my apologies to our blonde headed sisters/brothers in the group, but there ARE attractive members of both sexes that are not blonde, despite Hollywood's and appearently publishers belief to the contrary)

So, I finished Succubus Dreams just now and I have to give it 4 stars. I could have given it 5 stars easily if I hadn't felt so ... heartbroken at the end. But I guess you could say that that's a sign of a good book; when you're so tied into the lives of the characters that a betrayal can make your heart ache. : (
But I'm off to a good start!
1 down and 8 to go!
