That first one I just added to my list, Jools. But I'm going to read My Grandmother Asked Me to Tell You She's Sorry first, as have still not read the author at all. You've been going great guns Jools. I'm staying away (still) from Brotherhood and also trying not to borrow library books either ;)))

Ah yes, best if you read it first because Britt Marie is a character who features in the other books (a bit more so in MGAMTTYSS) and her story will flow into this one ;)

Nicole Alexander (nicole_alexander) | 98 comments Picked up a copy of Water for Elephants. Saw the movie but never read the novel. Water for Elephants by Sara Gruen Two chapters in and the book is much better than the film. But then how do you condense a work into a feature film and still do it justice.

Glad you're enjoying it Nicole...I loved it! Haven't seen the movie either - but I prefer books to movies anyway as I'm always afraid of them spoiling it for me :)

Suz | 4377 comments Couldn't help myself today, picked up to withdrawn books from my little library today, 20c each. I just noticed two Aussie authors too!

Dissection by Jacinta Halloran and Vertigo by Amanda Lohrey. I was having a very good look and think it's funny that I end up with two of them!

Some good books there, Zoey. We were sad to miss the recent Lifeline Bookfair down our way, but no way we were going out in horrific conditions last weekend.Probably better for our wallets anyway. Lovely and sunny today. Have been out for a walk and in the garden till the back called a halt to that.

Suz | 4377 comments How good does this one look? Theodore Boone: Kid Lawyer didn't know John Grisham had done a book for youngsters! Was shocked to see it sitting in the Premier's Redding challenge shelf! Also yesterday, picked up this Secrets and Lies looking for a Jaye Ford book and bonus - the book was one of these three in one.

I read the Theodore Boone one earlier this year and enjoyed it, Suzanne. It was a bit of a different Grisham, that's for sure. There's about five in the series so I'm looking forward to continuing on with it sometime.

What a terrible experience to have gone through - the twelve months prior, then that! It would certainly change your life, one way or the other!

It is one of my favourites too. I read it years ago. Really looking forward to listen to the audiobook.

Me too! We also used to listen to The Goons on radio every Saturday..what a crack up!...and played records of the (now unpopular) Bill Cosby comedy skits. Lots of laughs in those days :D

The Girl with All the Gifts
Silver Wattle by Belinda Alexandra
Queen of the Road by Tricia Stringer
The Selection by Kiera Cass - just because I like the cover.

Marianne (cloggiedownunder) | 9886 comments the book whisperer supported Vinnies and Salvos today:

for a BookMooch friend in California
February $4
March $4 and
Missing $1

and for me
Dead Fishy by consummate storyteller Derek Hansen $4
If on a Winter's Night a Traveller $2 (on my wishlist)
Hold from Aussie Kirsten Tranter $2

message 646: by Marianne (new)

Marianne (cloggiedownunder) | 9886 comments also spotted After Dead: What Came Next in the World of Sookie Stackhouse for $4, but looked through it and decided that even $4 was too much for the meagre content.

I went into my favourite Salvos yesterday, and came out empty-handed. Their prices are getting a bit steep, I think. The average paperback is now $5.25, and the only one yesterday that I seriously wanted was $7.25. I know it's still very cheap, but I figured I could get the eBook for about the same price. But I still supported their work by dropping off some donations :)

I've noticed that myself when we're out and about Andrea...second hand prices are going up, even on the poor quality books.
