I haven't read a lot of Modesitt, despite his obvious popularity, and the story didn't exactly sell me on the author.
Sort of reimagines Hari Seldon as a political consultant as an Evil Genius, and then lays out a large political agenda.

I've read a lot (everything?) by Modesitt & really got a kick out of this. I was alternately laughing or horrified by the various trends Modesitt laid out & the tactics his mad scientist took used to create his dictator. It was all so perfectly reasonable & horrible.
