Prep for our first BSB game of 2017 is underway! Yay! While I enjoy putting together a list of 24 shelves to use for each round, I'd love to hear your suggestions. We've gotten some in the past, but tastes change, so I'll ask again.

Which shelves would you like to see in R14? Please keep in mind our group focus - all shelves should be, in some way, related to fantasy series. What did you think of the shelves used in R13 (broken into 5 categories: Series-Related, Supe-Related, Genre-Related, Character-Related and Reader-Related)? Which do you prefer more? What shelves did you like in our earlier rounds that don't appear as often now?

Just my opinion, but I prefer shelf categories that have less choices of books for them. This forces me to read books that I wouldn't necessarily read under normal circumstances. I find many new great authors this way!

I can understand that, Lisa. I tend to get lost in those with thousands of books. But, we also want to make sure everyone has a chance of finding a book on the list that's either in their possession or easily accessible via library, etc. So, in that case, more is better.

New (or newly discovered) Power/supernatural-ness

Supes Are Out (publicly known to exist) or Just Came Out

Mismatched (Supe/alien + Normal in a relationship -- love, friendship or other alliance)

Series Finished (all planned books of a series have been published)

Kick Ass Heroine..... or hero....not sure if it has been done before.
Own But Unread or Own But Not Read....there is always one we put off reading.
Available At Library....or something similar

Those are some fun and unique categories, Debbie. I'm not sure there are actual shelves for all of those but I'll take a look at what's available in similar themes.

I know we've used kickass heroine in the past, Val, but I'll check to see if there's a shelf for kickass heroes. And, we could all benefit from an "owned but unread" shelf. :)

My shelf is "owned not read yet" LOL

Great....the suggestions are actual shelves in GR but there are many variations.

Thanks! I've made a list of those suggestions I could find on a GR shelf.

I agree with Linda about Series to Start and First in Series lists being very similar.

I'll use only one this go 'round :)
