Juanita (juanitav) | 744 comments A book with multiple authors ... hmmm. Not sure I read a lot of books that will qualify for this one. Would we count an autobiography/memoir if it has a credited co-author? Thoughts?

message 2: by Sara (last edited Nov 18, 2016 06:23PM) (new)

Sara I'm thinking it would. I've already read this one. but The Royal We has two authors and is a fun, light read if you are a fan of British royals. America's First Daughter also has two authors listed.

message 3: by Katie (last edited Nov 18, 2016 09:29PM) (new)

Katie | 63 comments I definitely think a credited ghost writer would count.

There are always collections that can fill this prompt. I just read Reader, I Married Him: Stories Inspired by Jane Eyre, which is a collection of short stories written by different authors. All of the stories were inspired by that line from Jane Eyre.

message 4: by poshpenny (new)

poshpenny | 1916 comments I really enjoyed Good Omens by Terry Pratchett and Neil Gaiman.

I wasn't blown away with Click: One Novel, Ten Authors but it was an interesting experiment. Written by by David Almond, Eoin Colfer, Roddy Doyle, Deborah Ellis, Nick Hornby, Margo Lanagan, Gregory Maguire, Ruth Ozeki, Linda Sue Park, Tim Wynne-Jones

message 5: by Dani (new)

Dani Weyand | 374 comments Will Grayson, Will Grayson by David Levithan and John Green

Also, how do I link to a books page like the above posts instead of just typing it and forcing people to copy and paste like were in the stone ages?

poshpenny | 1916 comments Dani wrote: "Also, how do I link to a books page like the above posts instead of just typing it and forcing people to copy and paste like were in the..."

Honestly I'm lazy and bookmarked that page then copy/paste/insert when I post.

message 7: by Juanita (new)

Juanita (juanitav) | 744 comments Dani: You have to do it from a desktop computer or on a web browser for the full site. You can't use the mobile site or the app to get that functionality.

From the full site, there are hyperlinks above the comment box that allow you to "add book/author." When you click on it, it opens a search feature.

message 8: by Dani (new)

Dani Weyand | 374 comments Damn I have to use a real computer. Oh well, back to the stone ages with me.

message 9: by Dani (new)

Dani Weyand | 374 comments Will Grayson, Will Grayson

I've got a few choices, and they are all really interesting for me!
* Good Omens (Pratchett & Gaiman)
* The Lady Most Likely... (Quinn, Brockway, James)
* The Forgotten Room (White, Willig, Williams -I guess only "W" names got to collaborate on this one!)
* Roseanna (Sjowall & Wahloo)

And for those searching, know that sometimes author duos will choose one pen name, such as Ilona Andrews. Also, the Beautiful Creatures series is an option (I read the first one and hated it, but that's just me!) There are also books by Marion Zimmer Bradley & Andre Norton & Anne McCaffrey that have collaborators as they became older, you have to search.

message 13: by Brandy (new)

Brandy (fantasyfan101) | 14 comments If you want a scary one for Halloween House is written by Frank Perretti and Ted Dekkar.

message 14: by poshpenny (new)

poshpenny | 1916 comments Ellery Queen is two people

message 15: by Kirsten (new)

Kirsten (kmcripn) James Patterson and Clive Cussler are two authors who usually have other authors working with them.

Also, Illuminae was written by two people.

The Charles Todd mysteries are written by two people

Heather Somarriba (heathie) | 10 comments The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society

^^ LOVED this book. Also works for book of letters.

message 18: by Lindi (last edited Nov 22, 2016 04:40PM) (new)

Lindi (lindimarie) Anyone watch the YouTube web series ? It's a modern "vlog" style retelling of Pride & Prejudice. It was super cute, I highly recommend it!

The creators came out with a companion novel, The Secret Diary of Lizzie Bennet, that has two authors.

message 19: by Juliebean (new)

Juliebean (juliebean512) | 145 comments If you like mysteries, there are several written by both Felix and Dick Francis - son/father. I loved the old Dick Francis books but haven't tried the newer ones with them together. Dick has since passed on and it's only Felix.

message 20: by Shannon (new)

Shannon | 0 comments I missed reading Harry Potter and the Cursed Child, Parts 1 & 2 so I'm adding it to my TBR list. Jack Thorne and J.K. Rowling are both credited on Amazon so close enough for me.

message 21: by Tara (new)

Tara Bates | 1008 comments I really enjoyed between the lines by Jodi picoult and her daughter

message 22: by Fannie (new)

Fannie D'Ascola | 438 comments I think David Edding collaborate with his wife for most of his books.

message 23: by Tara (new)

Tara Bates | 1008 comments I also recently read my secret sister which was great

message 24: by Chelsea (new)

Chelsea | 6 comments I enjoyed reading The Knockoff this year. Written by Lucy Sykes and Jo Piazza.

message 25: by Mike (new)

Mike | 443 comments Last night I thought of The Talisman by Stephen King and Peter Straub. I read it when I was a teen and remember liking it.

message 26: by Therese (new)

Therese | 133 comments I found one that I had in this category Kidnapped by the Taliban

message 28: by Malaraa (new)

Malaraa James S.A. Corey is actually 2 people. :) Leviathan Wakes

message 29: by Stephen (new)

Stephen | 32 comments City of Dark Magic and it's sequel. Magnus Flyte is two women.
Most anything by Russian brothers Arkady Strugatsky and Boris Strugatsky

Bill wrote: "Would a book that's been translated count?"

I don't think so.

message 32: by Mary-Megan (new)

Mary-Megan There are a number of books that are two or three novellas in one book like Summer Brides that has stories from Susan Mallery, Susan Wiggs, and Sherryl Woods. I would think something like that would fit this category - it said book, not story...

In that sense, wouldn't something like a mystery anthology work?

Another unique set of books that would I think would fit this category is a group of books where each author writes a chapter continuing the story. They are The Chopin Manuscript, the Copper Bracelet and the Watchlist

message 33: by Kelli (new)

Kelli Roberts Saving Lucas Biggs by Marisa de los Santos and David Teague. It's a YA book so would probably go pretty quickly. I haven't read it yet but I've had it recommended and it sounds really interesting.

message 34: by poshpenny (new)

poshpenny | 1916 comments I just stumbled across Hotel Angeline: A Novel in 36 Voices

"Thirty-six of the most interesting writers in the Pacific Northwest came together for a week-long marathon of writing live on stage. The result? Hotel Angeline, a truly inventive novel that surprises at every turn of the page. Provoking interesting questions about the creative process, this novel is by turns funny, scary, witty, suspenseful, beautiful, thrilling, and unexpected."

message 35: by Anna (new)

Anna Adam | 7 comments Saving Lucas Biggs! Great suggestion! Fast read and neat story.

message 36: by Theresa (new)

Theresa | 2339 comments My thinking for this category is a edited collection of works by various authors. Top of my laist are the Wild Card series co-editted by George RR Martin (and being name into a cable series) or his Dangerous Women or Rogues.

message 37: by Caity (new)

Caity (adivineeternity) | 164 comments If you're seeking books with a red spine AND the first book of a series you've never read, you can use the Obsidian trilogy for those two tasks and this one.

The Outstretched Shadow (Obsidian Mountain, #1) by Mercedes Lackey The Outstretched Shadow - the first book of the trilogy, so if you've never read it you can start here

To Light a Candle (Obsidian Mountain, #2) by Mercedes Lackey To Light a Candle - the second book of the trilogy, it has a red spine (at least, my edition does)

When Darkness Falls (Obsidian Mountain, #3) by Mercedes Lackey When Darkness Falls - the third book of the trilogy that works for this task, as all three are by Mercedes Lackey and James Mallory

message 38: by Sara (new)

Sara Whizbanger | 13 comments Would an anthology count in this category?

Honestly, I'm making up my own rules as I go along, but I'm curious what others will say here.

What about an academic book? Maybe I'll finally get around to the book I have an article published in.

message 39: by Tara (new)

Tara Bates | 1008 comments I'd say yes to an anthology, it's a book and has multiple authors. I sometimes bend rules too, for example I probably won't go anywhere so I may get my mom to bring me back a book for the book I bought on a trip. It's not cheating because it's a personal challenge so you make the rules for yourself in my opinion.

message 40: by Kirsten (new)

Kirsten (kmcripn) I was wondering. After reading some of the comments above, it seems that some are picking books that have one name on the cover but are commonly known as written by more than one author.

I read this as having more than one name on the cover.

James Patterson, Clive Cussler, and others routinely write with a partner.

Also there are many books that are written by two. I plan on reading American Grace: How Religion Divides and Unites Us for this one.

message 41: by Sara (new)

Sara Whizbanger | 13 comments I agree. I am also reading this prompt as a work by multiple authors. I'll likely go with a collection of short stories. An easy way to knock this one out!

I read it as one story with more than one author, doesn't matter how many names are used. So Ilona Andrews would work, although it's one name it is two people. And Good Omens: The Nice and Accurate Prophecies of Agnes Nutter, Witch would work, it is two people and two names.

But I like how we are all interpreting it slightly differently. It didn't even occur to me to look for anthologies for this one! But an anthology certainly is a book with multiple authors, and that was all the direction we were given.

message 43: by Jenny (new)

Jenny Peter and the Starcatchers series is great. Dave Barry and Ridley Pearson

message 44: by Nina (new)

Nina Levine (nlevine) | 20 comments The Long Earth was written by Terry Pratchett and Baxter Stephen. It's the first in a series of scifi tales.

I just found a novella co-written by Stephen King and his son, Joe Hill: Throttle. According to Wikipedia, this was also released as an audiobook, Road Rage: Two Novellas

message 46: by JoAnna (new)

JoAnna | 84 comments We were going to read Geurnsey (etc., etc.) for a book of letters, but decided last night to move it to here!

message 47: by Elise (new)

Elise F (elise_literaryhabitat) | 0 comments Anyone who likes crime fiction/forensic anthropology - Jefferson Bass is two authors (Jefferson - writer, Bass - forensic anthropologist), and the "Body Farm" series is excellent.
First book is Carved in Bone.

message 48: by Jody (new)

Jody (jodybell) Nicci French is a pen name for two authors who write together, although I'm not sure what their books are like.

message 49: by Jessica (new)

Jessica Moore | 64 comments I've decided to start the year with this prompt and read What I Told My Daughter: Lessons from Leaders on Raising the Next Generation of Empowered Women

It's a collection of essays from many different women on the things they have told their daughters or wanted their daughters to know about life etc. Having three young daughters of my own it should be an interesting place to start!

message 50: by Saskia (new)

Saskia (saskiad) There is Queen Heir written Jaymin Eve and Leia Stone. It is a shifter story. And Maddox by Maggie Ryan and Alta Hensley is out on jan 6. it is BDSM, so not for everyone.
