Even if a book can only fit one card, it's one card less to read for! :-)

message 425: by Sabrina (new)

Sabrina | 341 comments Good morning team Andromeda!

I finished book eight of the rock chick series. I am so glad that this series was recommended by Katie.

As stated before, this series always has an alpha male, a strong female lead, and comedic undertones. With the exception of book seven, I really enjoyed the series. My favorite book was book one with Lee and Indy; however, I hold a soft spot in my heart for Luke and Ava (I swooned when he danced with her in book eight). Ally and Ren's story was worth the wait, for we got to see their romantic progression through out the book. It didn't happen in a week or two like her other books, so it felt more genuine. Additionally, Ren character was so hot it put Lee's character a little to shame, and Lee and Ally are my favorite, so that is saying something. Anyway, I like Katie recommend this series and hope others enjoy it as well.

@katie -- I gave book eight four stars, because the author rushed the ending, and it was particularly rushed with Darius (makes me so sad). Moreover, I was able to discern that Darius is back together with his teenage love, which he had another child with several years at the end. The author kept pushing several years a head at the end with only snippets of info. I realize that this is Ally and Rens story, but ya can't tease like that and not give another book after. As much as it would be nice to read a story on Darius, I don't believe the author will give us one. She creates books with strong female leads who fin themselves dipped into a world of chaos, and from what I have read Darius woman and child doesn't really fit in that trope. I guess we will just have to be satisfied with the stories that we got.

@katie again, On a separate note, I so wish Jane a story over Darius if I could have one more. She doesn't fall into the authors typical writing trope, but Jane is such a romantic. I would kill to read a book where some man would have to do better than the books she reads and writes to win her over.

Thanks again for the recommend and happy reading to all!

~Sabrina

I'm so glad you enjoyed the last book, Sabrina! Especially after the disappointment of book 7. :)

message 428: by BarbaraAnn (new)

BarbaraAnn Hi - I just wanted to say thanks for the recommendation of Kiss of Steel. This series has been on my TBR forever - I even had planned to read it last year, but it kept being pushed back into the "will read this someday" stack. I'm glad I finally read it. Awesome series with a lot of potential. Of course now, i have the rest of the series, looks like a spinoff series and other books by this author to read. I guess i never have to worry about my TBR pile going down.

message 429: by Kelly (new)

Kelly (louloo) | 314 comments My next read will be The Rome Affair by Karen Swan.

There’s definitely a 3,4,8 and skip just from the author and the blurb.

For the mini challenge it would suit any of these:

Pluto:

Wild Swans Three Daughters of China by Jung Chang

Enchanted, Inc. (Enchanted, Inc., #1) by Shanna Swendson

Mercury:

Unraveling (Unraveling, #1) by Elizabeth Norris

Jupiter:

Ancillary Justice (Imperial Radch, #1) by Ann Leckie

In case it counts I’ve amended my completed post for Harry Potter and the Philosphers Stone as I’ve found the correct cover. It was not the Sorcerers stone edition.

I'm so glad you enjoyed Kiss of Steel! :-) I spent an entire Sunday reading that book when I started it, almost finishing it in one setting and it was fantastic. The rest of the series continues along the same vein with the plot thickening in every instalment. Really good!

And no.... you won't have to worry about your TBR going down.... hehe ;-)

message 435: by Eldarwen (new)

Eldarwen | 5004 comments I might be able to finish up Vengeance in Death tonight.

Then I'll move on to Blaze of Memory next, which can work for a 9 card (author Nalini Singh) and for Team Grus who recommended The Others series by Anne Bishop who deals with a psychic girl ripped out of her known world and thrown into the world of shifters. The Psy-Changeling series deals with the same sort of plot device - a psy (psychic race) is ripped out of her cold, known world to be thrown into the warm, emotional world of the changelings (i.e. shifters).
