Madeline Pape (magpiep) | 3 comments That's awesome Elizabeth! I am very new to good reads and I am still adjusting to how this group does things. I am happy to be participating.

It really is hard! I was really meticulous about packing my fiction because I didn't want to be rummaging through 1200 books in a tiny space lol but I've unpacked all of those and haven't found it yet :( plus I was pretty sure I'd left it aside with all my other planned reads, but it isn't there either! I'll have to double check my car I guess!

Hi Madeline! Congrats for even reading 6 books during a demanding program!

Elizabeth (Alaska) | 14074 comments The rest of today and all of tomorrow for the polls. Still room for some juggling on the Fall Favorites poll especially.

Jayme(theghostreader) (jaymetheghostreader) | 2583 comments Yesterday was my birthday. My mom took me to Half Price books. I got three paperbacks, a hardcover and a large print crossword puzzle. One of my books was a brand new book from one of my favorite authors.

Happy belated Birthday! I can't think of a more fun present than a trip to the discount book store! :)

Jayme(theghostreader) (jaymetheghostreader) | 2583 comments We also went bowling. I haven't bowled since my surgery 5 months ago.

I changed my vote in the Fall Fave poll. I realized after I voted (initially) that 'next' would suit my reading wishes and goals better. So, hopefully my 1 vote will keep it in the lead!

Elizabeth (Alaska) | 14074 comments Happy Birthday, Jayme. What books did you get?

Jayme(theghostreader) (jaymetheghostreader) | 2583 comments I got The Matchmaker, The Identicals, The Perfect Couple by Elin Hilderbrand, The Hills Have Spies by Mercedes Lackey and a large print crossword puzzle.

Elizabeth (Alaska) | 14074 comments We have the review style for Fall. I hope you'll find a place for them and tell us more.

Jayme(theghostreader) (jaymetheghostreader) | 2583 comments I am sure I can fit in some. I hope to fit in three of them for Seasonal Reading Challenge this season.

message 270: by Rebekah (new)

Rebekah (bekalynn) So for my birthday gifts, I often get book board games like Booktastic. I thought it was a good idea the first time I got one. Now I just put it on the shelf with the others. Nobody will ever play them with me!! They say I've read too much!

I have the same problem! No one plays Scrabble with me, or any book games...

Jayme(theghostreader) (jaymetheghostreader) | 2583 comments I would be interested in playing booktastic. It sounds fun.

Lalitha (falcon_) | 85 comments What a miserable show from my end this season :( The flu did me at the end of the season too.

I really hope to read more books the coming season.

Elizabeth (Alaska) | 14074 comments I'm sorry you've had the flu, Lalitha. Hope you're feeling ever so much better.

Elizabeth (Alaska) | 14074 comments Now that the polls have closed, is everyone looking at new and/or additional options for both tasks and combos?

Now that would be the smart thing to do, wouldn't it! I've just been looking at all the series I can continue, and books that have been languishing on my TBR list!

message 282: by Rebekah (new)

Rebekah (bekalynn) I thought this group started when my twins were first graders in 2008. But on the member page says I joined on Aug 28, 2010 which is odd because that was the day my grandson was born and I was the labor coach and I don’t think I joined anything that day and night except the grandparents club!

We are nearly twins! My birthday was 25th. You share the same birthday as my brother. My grandson is on 28th. Then we have a another passel of birthdays in September. A family full of Virgos!

Valerie Brown | 3196 comments Yay! I got my mega finish. I'm never in the high scoring ranks, but I"m always pleased when I manage to complete all of the tasks. It's an accomplishment. I just looked back at my spreadsheet, and it looks like I manage to finish approx. 1 season per year. I know (or at least suspect) that I won't finish the fall challenge - even though I"m super excited by the tasks. I have too many commitments + interruptions ahead this fall.

Rosemary | 4109 comments Well done, Valerie! I'm just posting my last task, too. I love that sense of completion :)

Elizabeth (Alaska) | 14074 comments I love seeing so many Mega finishers this season! I don't know what the usual number is, but it seems as if more of you have worked hard to get 30 books! Congratulations to everyone!

Elizabeth (Alaska) | 14074 comments Ah, shucks! Thank you!

message 290: by Valerie (new)

Megan (gentlyread) | 358 comments Congratulations to everyone who's finished and who's finishing! And happy belated birthday, Jayme and Rebekah and Lalitha!

Something I enjoy about the end of the season is going through the books I had every intention of reading but didn't get around to, and seeing what I can fit into the upcoming season. All these second chances! At least until the library due date comes, or I get distracted by other books... :)

Yes, I do that too! It's always nice when you can carry some choices over to the next season! Especially for tasks like summer's 20.4 where I had listed 9 choices!

I've started doing the same thing! It's weirdly satisfying to see how much I can limit which books go back on my shelves after the season is over lol. I keep my planned books separate from my shelves.

I want to really focus on reading speculative fiction by female authors this season. I know I won't be able to do only women in speculative fiction, because I have a ton of NetGalley books to get to, but if I can manage 50% I'll be happy. And hopefully I can find a home for some of these NetGalley ones too in the tasks!
