Laura | 9707 comments I'll start us off! Reserving my spot. I 've got what it takes to Drop Everything and Read! Ha, though I remember last year work did get in the way of how much I planned to read!

I'm reading: The Tattooist of Auschwitz by Heather Morris so far-- 20% in. I had hoped to read more at work today.. maybe this afternoon will be better! I will definitely be reading after work tonight.

Finished The Tattooist of Auschwitz by Heather Morris - 5 star read.

Started Run Away by Harlan Coben - 129 pages in

Devann (devannm) | 2778 comments haha yeah work will definitely get in the way a bit, but i pretty much always read for over 2 hours a day so i will still at least get something in

[edit 4/12/18] ok so i did:

last third of Alien: Echo
about 30% of Seven Blades in Black
first 3 hours audio of Over Your Dead Body

unfortunately this always falls on a day i have to work lol

Allegra | 219 comments If I want the coin, I'll need to "go to bed" early, since that's when I do most of my reading. The timing is terrible for me for me to Drop Everything, but I'll give it a shot.

I earned the coin!!
Posted details in Message 81. Wish I could have done more, but I'm well over 4 hours by bedtime.

Lol.. I wonder if we could all do this? Teeehee...

message 11: by Laura (new)

Laura | 9707 comments Hey everyone, nice to see you all and welcome. I'll link everyone up soon

Its difficult to make the timing perfect for all participants because of time zones; its a fun challenge so there is no pressure except to have fun and read what you can!

Alysa H. | 3832 comments I am off work and traveling to visit family April 11-16... and as part of that, I will be able to read at lot! I usually read for *at least* 2 hours a day anyway, but can probably swing plenty more on DEAR day, and the days before and after it. It’ll be a great way to catch up on books for other challenges too. So I am in!

message 24: by ⚣M󲹱 (new)

⚣M󲹱⚣ (michaelle) | 18 comments I read at least 2 hours a day, every day, so sign me up for this...I'll use it as an excuse to take the whole day!

message 25: by Rhys (new)

Rhys (haydenrhys) I have a final that day :( but I will definitely read after it for DEAR because I miss it from elementary school. DEAR was my favourite time of the day. Everyday from grade 1-grade 6 right after lunch for half an hour. I miss the simple days, University is kicking my ass.

message 26: by Keli (new)

Keli | 1204 comments Luckily, I can read whilst at work. Though, I will be giving the bulk of my reading to the wee hours. I'll be happy if I can get in a solid 7 hours.

Beth | 503 comments I'm in! I will definitely read something, not sure how much. I am not sure I have ever done readathons 2 weekends in a row! (After Dewey's Readathon, which is April 6th.)

Vindication of the Rights of Woman 49-62%
The Decline and Fall of the Roman Empire 324-408 (print) = 84 pgs
The Left Hand of Darkness 43%
The Maltese Falcon 1:52-3:11 - 1 hr 19 min (DNF)
I Explain a Few Things: Selected Poems 78-97 = 9 pgs

time reading (according to stopwatch) plus audio: 4 hrs 15 min + 1 hr 19 min = 5 hrs 34 min
pages (print): 84+9 = 93 pgs

Will be travelling (on a coach) for most of the day (10am-5pm) on the 12th (from university to home) so that's the perfect time to get some reading in, probably in audiobook form.

message 37: by Cheryl (last edited Apr 12, 2019 09:47PM) (new)

Cheryl | 910 comments Yea! I'm in for a lovely day of reading!

9:19 am...I love this day! Remaining in my jammies pretty much all day, surrounded by my 3 cats, doing one of my favorite activities all day and feeling no guilt! May have to get dressed at some point so I can make a Coke Zero run! I am finishing up An Unseen Angel A Mother's Story of Faith, Hope, and Healing after Sandy Hook by Alissa Parker this morning.

11:28 a.m. I have finished An Unseen Angel. It is the touching story of one of the 6 year old victims at Sandy Hook Elementary, Emilie Parker as shared by her mother. I just heard another mother of a Sandy Hook victim, Michelle Gay, speak last week at the National School Boards Convention on school safety. I am grateful that we are beginning to see the importance of the socioemotional needs of children and that mental health issues are being recognized and worked with in an improving manner.

I am beginning Kaffir Boy An Autobiography by Mark Mathabane , after a Coke Zero run. Not stopping my reading to do so as I will be listening to Dorothy Must Die (Dorothy Must Die, #1) by Danielle Paige in my car.

10:40 pm. I made a big dent in Kaffir Boy. Got to where I expected. I will get another hour and a half of reading before shutting down for the night. This is such an interesting read as an autobiography of someone who lived through apartheid in South Africa. So eye opening. So glad I chose to spend the time with this meaningful book! What a pleasant day this has been!

I started thinking about that today. But there are so many books to choose from! I want to read something that I can finally clear off my shelves.
