I’m looking to find some PNR books with an insecure/vulnerable heroine (maybe she’s never been loved, lacks self-confidence, has been abused etc) and a super possessive and protective alpha.

I'm guessing you're going for more emotional vulnerability vs situational/physical vulnerability?
Correct! But if physical/situational vulnerability is what lead or at least partially led to her emotional vulnerability then that’s cool too.
It’s been awhile since I read it but I think Dark Fire by Christine Feehan fits this description.
