I loved it. 5 stars. I'm on to the next in the series soon. Cross

In the middle of Hunters in the Dark: A Novel, by Lawrence Osborne. I feel guilty because I was sent a review copy from Penguin and already own the UK version, so if anyone (In the U.S.) would like my ARC copy, I am more than happy to pass it along. Free -- and I'll pay postage. Someone take it, please!

Thanks, Chelsea -- I'll send it along. Now I won't feel so guilty.

Stay tuned. I give books away to good homes all of the time.

To be very blunt, I didn't like it at all. But I'm in the minority.

You hit the author tab instead of the book tab. It's okay.

Third in this series (which I love) set in Fort Worth,TX.

I liked The Girl on the Train. Readers seem to be divided on this one, possibly because of the whole unreliable narrator thing. My review is here.

About to start Dead Wrong

I gave The Girl on the Train 3.5 stars. I thought it was well written but the ending was too drawn out and the characters didn't have many redeeming features.

Nancy hits like button.

Another vacation read -- The Voices Beyond, by Johan Theorin. Sadly, it's not widely available in the US right now; I had to buy my copy in the UK. It's the last chapter in Theorin's Öland Quartet, which as a whole, is an amazingly good, atmospheric crime fiction series from Scandinavia.

Chelsea Close to Home is a great book. I love Linwood Barclay.

I am also reading We Have Always Lived in the Castle
And Kill Chain by Meg Gardiner for my series challenge
While away, I finished my reread of Tey's The Franchise Affair. Truly one of her best. You really ought to read it with me starting the 15th.

That's a series I hope to get to soon.

The first book, All Good Deeds, is now free!

Currently working on Blake: or; The Huts of America, by Martin Delany. I read a lot of strange stuff.
I finally got up the nerve to start another Highsmith novel, this time This Sweet Sickness. For someone who never married, she spends a lot of time writing about married couples.

Buddhism , sex, how the police operate in Asia. The author leaves us with this thought. Don't mess with the East!

In the book - which is almost 900 pages long - the moon explodes and the Earth's surface is destroyed. The plan is for a couple of thousand humans to survive in a space habitat, then to repopulate the Earth in 5000 years. For me, the book's premise is interesting but the massive amount of scientific jargon is tedious. 3.5 stars.

I'm just about to finish Crooked Brooklyn: Taking Down Corrupt Judges, Dirty Politicians, Killers and Body Snatchers, sent to me by St. Martin's Press. Due to space issues, I can't keep it so if anyone In the U.S. would like my hardcover copy, I'll be happy to give it to you. Free and I pay postage. It's true crime from the POV of a Brooklyn DA.

Done deal, Chelsea! As soon as I post about it, I'll pass it on. Stay tuned -- I'll have a lot more soon.
