If you get a chance, read her novel, Goodnight, Beautiful Goodnight, Beautiful by Dorothy Koomson ...I had a good cry during that one--and I usually *never* cry.

TinaNoir | 1454 comments Goodnight, Beautiful by Dorothy Koomson gutted me!

On a lighter note.... I just read An Unexpected Attraction (Love Unexpected Book 3) by Delaney Diamond . Very good. But so much was happening, quite a few supporting characters all with their own little issues, it really needed more page space.

Finished My best friend's girl and I had already The Chocolate Run lined up in my Koobo, so I'm reading that one right now.

I've read the blurb for Goodnight, Beautiful, decided it was a guaranteed cry-fest and I didn't feel like it at the time so I promptly purchased My best friend's girl instead. And cried anyway. So I just went ahead and purchased Goodnight, Beautiful and I'm declaring this weekend 'Dorothy Koomson Marathon weekend'.

I so love the way she writes! The first book I read by her was The Rose Petal Beach, and I was all on board with the thriller aspect of her books (was in a period I was a little bit disappointed with IR romances). I didn't know she also wrote romantic chic-lit. So far I've only come across The Cupid Effect and now The Chocolate Run. Does she have more of those? (I'm looking in the Koobo catalog and I've find 9 of her books.)

I seem to only find the mysteries right now, which I will surely read because, like I said: I'm in love with her writing.

My Best Friend's Girl
Marshmallows for Breakfast
Goodnight Beautiful

They all have some romantic elements, but I wouldn't really call them romances. :)

Gisèle, I think that of all her books, The Chocolate Run & The Cupid Effect are her closest to Chic-Lit that I can think of. The rest seem to fall in line with Women's Fiction because they to be more heart-tugging with heavier issues.

Fair warning, while The Cupid Effect is one of her more lighthearted books, I did not find it a good romance at all. In fact I would not even characterize is as a romance per se.

Oh yes, Tina, as romance goes, The Cupid Effect didn't really fit the mold. But I still like it a lot. It could have been better though if the possibility of the HEA for the heroine was explored a little bit more.

I finished Again for the First Time last night: I did have some minor issues with it but overall awesome. Can't wait for next story of the brother and sister of the H/h.

And also glad there will be more books for the Gravity series.

Ashley Winbush (booktabulous) Broken Open (The Hurley Boys, #2) by Lauren Dane I've had this on my TBR since it was released last month. It's my second IR novel ever and I just finished reading it today. I LOVED this read. Not disappointed at all. I wanted me a piece of Ezra from the first few pages (partially blushing). He's hot, strong, gentlemanly, and I love how much he loves Tuesday.

You can also tell that the author took time to understand race relations that weren't of her making, which in my book she gets kudos for. Because what I don't like hearing the most is people say they don't see color, when it should be the opposite. You should see color and appreciate it because that's what makes each one of us beautiful in our own way. So I really appreciated it when certain parts where discussed and were carried about the way they were. Ezra saw beauty and Tuesday saw masculinity and a protector.

I am going to look over what everyone as posted on the links so far to determine my next IR book.

You hit in your review everything I felt about the book. I liked that she turned the billionaire trope on its head. I also agree that the heroine did not act like a CEO. I was definitely giving Michon the side-eye in several places for her behavior in those board meetings.

Taida (dreadlockeddiva) | 98 comments I just finished this Pretending with the Playboy (In Love with a Tycoon, #2) by Tracey Livesay and I realized I am kind of tired of the reformed rake/playboy character with mommy and daddy issues--issues that make him scared of commitment. I guess it simply not my schtick. I know people have said this before, but I am kind of feeling that people are simply cutting out characters from either old books or other romances and inserting them into their novels. I want to stay away from billionaire IR stories, with cardboard characters, but it seems that is all that is available.

Also, I found it weird that this was the second book, in the past month or so, with a female lead that was light-skinned/biracial with red curly hair. The first one being The Calum by Xio Axelrod .

Justine | 1359 comments Has anyone read this book as yet? In Too Deep by R.W. Shannon

I would like to know how the quality of the story. $5 for less than 100 pages ain't gonna work for me. Plus

It is Reagan National Airport. Not Reagan International Airport. It has no international flights. I don't understand why the author didn't just write that they were flying out of Dulles International.

Why would a professor who has been invited to speak at a conference be flying coach? I supposed she just got the invite and has to foot the bill herself.

And what the hell is boarding rows A through F? Has this person not flown even once? Don't they have any friends who have ever flown?

I know what you mean. The billionaire IR stories are so much alike. I don't know if you read this story The Fight Within by Tiana Laveen by Tiana Laveen.
